  • 1kg boneless chicken (I always prefer thigh fillets for slow cooking)
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 440g can crushed pineapple in juice, undrained
  • 3/4 cup tomato sauce/ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger


  • Place chicken in slow cooker
  • Combine all other ingredients and pour over chicken
  • Cover and cook on low for 6hrs approx
  • If you desire, thicken the sauce with cornflour prior to serving.
  • I serve mine on a bed of fried rice

  1. Delicious & easy and like that there are fewer processed items than some. Quite sweet though & will try omitting the brown sugar next time.

  2. The family rated this 8.5/10 so will be making this again. I’d read other comments before I cooked it, so halved the amount of brown sugar and it worked for us.
