Bone Broth for DOGS
A delicious and nutrient rich broth for your pet.
Assists with healthy joints, gut and digestive system.
Serving: 5
Ingredients
- 2kg jointed bones-I used chicken feet but you could use beef marrow bones or a mix.
- 4 tbspn of unpasteurised raw Apple Cider Vinegar
- Water
Instructions
- Add bones to slow cooker
- Add Apple Cider Vinegar
- Pour in enough water to just cover bones
- Cook on HIGH for 1 hour then LOW for 23 hours.
- Strain broth and throw away bones DO NOT FEED COOKED BONES.
- Let broth cool and then place in fridge to set.
- After a few hours it should form a hard layer ontop, scrape this off and throw away. Underneath should be a brown jelly!
- Add a few tablespoons to your pets meal.
- Broth will keep for up to one week in the fridge before it starts to separate. If you won’t be able to use it all put it into ice cube trays instead and freeze and pop out a cube as required.

Both my dog and cat love this! So easy and healthy for the pets
While I can’t look at the picture (lol), this is a great recipe for our beloved pets. Thank you 🙂
I do this with beef bones, chicken feet and add chopped carrot, kale and broccoli for last 12 hours.
Good way to sneak veggies into a fussy dogs diet 😉
Can I just buy organic bone broth? Would it have the same effect?
My miniature shnauzers love it!! I agree at the end I put in mixed vegetables! add alittle rice too!
I’m making this as we speak. I have chicken feet, a few marrow bones, carrots, celery, apple , parsley all in the instant pot overnight.
Do you cook for 12 or 24 hours? I see both times suggested
Extra time draws out marrow from bones is what those who cook it tell me?
I purée everything in my food processor (bones and skin have additional benefits), then strain the mixture through a sieve into jars to remove the small bits. My dog LOVES this!!
