BBQ and red wine meat pie

This versatile recipe makes a large pie and could also make a shepherds pie or pasties

  • Prep: 15 mins
  • Cook: 5 hrs
  • Yields: 6 -8


1-.1.5 kg blade stake

500g mince

3tbsp gravy mix

1 tin crushed tomatoes

1 tin kidney beans

2 carrots

1 large onion

1/4 cup HP sauce

1/2 cup bbq sauce

200-300ml red wine

1/4 cup oyster sauce

Splash Worcestershire sauce

Splash balsamic vinegar

Salt and pepper


1Dice blade steak, onions and carrots and add all ingrediants (except gravy) to slow cooker.

2Cook on high for 5hrs or low 8hrs.

3Add gravy mix for desired thickness

4Put in pastry and finish off in oven to brown puff pastry
