    Mmmmm, mmmmm 🙂

We used garlic butter and left out the sauce and herbs due to allergies.

Bread was nice and crispy, cheese gooey and all cooking away while I finished getting tea on and a load of washing 🙂

This may well become a regular on weekends 🙂

    Thanks for the idea Simon

  2. Omg next level hot dogs right here! Simple, quick recipe with absolutely delicious results, will never cook them on the stove again! Thanks Simon and SCC for this recipe, I will soon extinguish the soggy split hotdogs from my family’s memory with these little beauties 🙂

The best hot dogs I’ve ever made at home. I will be doing these for myself and my wife everytime. The kids can have the normal boiled in water ones cause its quick and easy (hahaha), but for me, these are definitely worth the wait. I can’t believe how warm and slightly crispy the rolls turned… we have a 6 litre slow cooker and i found i couldn’t fit the 6 rolls i prepared in side by side, so i layered three on the bottom with a layer of baking paper and then three more on top and they came out bloody perfect!

This was the best thing I have made in a long time turned out perfect only thing I changed was I used sausages which I pre cooked thank you so much for posting, I never thought it was possible to cook hot dogs this way

  5. Absolutely delicious! I never knew hot dogs could taste this good. Well definitely be doing these again! I used Chipotle Ranch sauce unreal!!!!

  6. Me and my partner both loved this!
We used parmesan cheese as our choice of cheese and the flavours of Italian herbs, parmesan cheese & ranch when they all melted in together were so good!
We were only able to cook 2 at once in our slow cooker though (oval 5.5L one).

  7. ?? oh yummo!!! These were AMAZING HOT DOGS!! Kids were surprised that they were in slowcooker.. they each cleaned their plates!!! I’ll never boil in water again!!

  8. I’ve been itching to make these for ages in my sc n I finally made them 2nite!!! They were delicious although I didn’t put bacon or onion on mine just the frankfurt, a squirt of honey mustard sauce, a couple of slices of cheese (from block) n a sprinkle of Italian herbs!! The rolls were lovely n crunchy, I never thought they’d turn out like that, very impressive!! Will definitely make these again!! Thanx for sharing your great idea with us Simon

  9. Tried these today did not have ranch sauce so just used good old tomatoe sauce very nice and I loved that they were crunchy ….. thank you for the recipe a great weekend lunch

  10. Anyone try this with standard bread?
We are GF for most part and GF rolls are very expensive but wondered if the thick ends of the bread loaves might do the trick?
    Looks awesome though!

WOW….Have to say I was sceptical about this
Really thought I would end up with soggy buns but you don’t
Winner dinner for us tonight & will certainly be making again over & over
Did ours with sweet chilli sauce + bacon & hubby also added jalapenos to his

  12. Hot Dogs success!!
Had no cheese so I used 2 kinds of marinated feta, cooked maple bacon & ranch dressing. I forgot the italian seasoning but added it 5 mins before end & it was fine.
    1 hour High.
Daughter wants shed she had mine instead of her boring tomato sauce & butter! Lol

  13. Can’t say no to slow cooked hotdogs ?????? once again 10/10 from the partner. It’s the perfect meal for the footy ??

  14. O.M.G. these are the bomb!!!
I used caramelized onion and diced chorizo. Hubby has tomato/mustard sauce & i have BBQ sauce.
They are a constant on our menu.

  15. Ok made these the other day thumbs up from everyone will make them again thanks to the person that found the recipe for me when I couldn’t find it my lot said these were delish

  16. My husband wanted jazzed up hot dogs and I stumbled across this recipe. He was skeptical, but absolutely loved them! I am not a hot dog fan, but oh my goodness – these are amazing and I am counting down to when we have them again. The rolls are beautifully crispy and the frankfurts taste soooooo much nicer then when they are boiled. And adding red onion is just simply genius!

  17. I really wanted to like these but unfortunately it was not the case. They are a very gourmet hot dog and I think I prefer just a basic soft roll hot dog. I made one by following the ingredients and another with no onion and bbq sauce instead of ranch. Neither hit the spot for me sadly.

  18. Wow these are a real hit. Kids were all sceptical and scared to try something new but they all loved them. So yummy. So much more flavour than boiled Frankfurts. Will be making it a regular. Thank u!

  19. These turned out perfectly. I used soft hot dog rolls as advised and 6 rolls fitted neatly into my Breville.
A winner from the 66year old to the 12 year old plus the cook .

  20. Can you put aluminium foil in the bottom of the slow cooker to cook these hot dogs and do you fry the bacon before putting into the rolls?

  21. These didn’t blow me away like some other recipes on this website, but were definitely enjoyed by my family of 4. We each had slightly different toppings (some with ranch, some with tomato/mustard sauce, some with/without onions). But everyone thought they were really flavoursome and liked that the buns were a little crunchy and the toppings warm/cooked/melted. 1 hr cooking time was just right for 4 hot dogs in my slow cooker.

  22. Omg this is absolutely delicious. Will definitely be making it again. The things I did differently was after I buttered the rolls I generously spread caramelised onion relish/jam on the rolls. I pre cooked the bacon and cooked for 75 minutes. Yummy ?

  23. Great Slow Cooker idea & really tasty. Whole family loved them. My only problem was size of cooker. I have a 5.5ltr oval & could only fit 3 but borrowed my daughters . Looks as though I need to look for another (larger) cooker ??

  24. Made these quick and easy hotdogs they were pretty impressive, I didn’t use ranch but sauce and mustard instead along with bacon and onion , would love to try ranch next time .

  25. Made these for Dinner tonight, I absolutely loved them but sadly Hubby not so much, but that’s ok, I will make them again for me….YummmmmO

  26. Tried for the first time – AMAZING!! Followed recipe exactly for me and adapted for each family members individual taste. Used really good quality Vienna sausages.
I actually had a spare so wrapped in foil and left in the SC (still warm but switched off), went back to it an hour or so later and OMG I never imagined these things could get EVEN BETTER.
    HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

  27. We tried these for the first time last night after being on my to try list for so long and they were well worth the wait, they did not disappoint. My husband gave the thumbs up which says A LOT.
    They were so good ????

  28. Omfg never boiling hotdogs again woww this is a game changer ?????
I used aioli and tomato sauce instead of ranch taste amazing

  29. Yummm!!! Followed the recipe to a T and they did not disappoint! Such a great flavour combination. Was a little sceptical on the ranch but trusted the reviews and they were spot on. Delicious and very filling!

  30. Tried this for myself and kids for lunch, omitted the ranch dressing (not a fan) and sadly the herbs too, as I was out. Followed the directions otherwise, using tomato sauce, and oh my goodness, possibly the best hot dog I’ve ever eaten! And I’m not usually a fan of my own cooking. Even the fussiest kid devoured it. Never attempting any other way again. ?

Very happy with how these turned out, tastes amazing. Have more hotdogs left so will be doing this again tomorrow night ?

  32. Best hot dog I’ve ever made. So much better than boiled hot dogs. The bun is crunchy, the cheese is melted. I used tomato sauce, cut up ham slices & mixed herbs, instead of the ingredients I didn’t have in the recipe. Cooked in 2 batches, 4 rolls, then 2. We had more saveloys than buns, it worked putting them on the base of the slow cooker to heat up when cooking the last 2 buns

  33. The ONLY way we’ve had hot dogs since I first found the recipe! Favourite sauce (so far) is sweet chili!!!

Tried these for the first time last night. Won over my sceptical husband, he has asked for them again on Friday night! Absolutely delish, can’t wait to try different combinations.

Ahhmazing ? tried this last night, wasn’t planning on cooking. However, kids suggested hotdogs and glad they did! Will never make hotdogs the usual way… again. I used garlic butter, regular onion, diced ham and used grated cheese with preferred sauces. Soooo good. Cheers ?

This was a easy meal that cooked itself while I was busy doing other things. Pretty tasty too! Definitely on the ‘to do again’ list (people also have so many other variations that they’ve tried).

    SLOW COOKER HOTDOGS.
I’ve left comments before, these are the best
    ever . I absolutely love them ?
I now prep them except for the cheese (as grated falls off easily) and freeze them ready to cook. Once defrosted I top with grated cheese, cook and finish off with tomato and mustard sauces.
    Deliciousness ???

Other half thought I was crazy serving hot dogs ? for dinner – half way through he said ‘you can make these again ‘, winner! Thank you for the recipe.

The filling was really delicious, but we were both disappointed with the rolls. Whether it was because they were Super Soft ones, but were so soft that I had to get them out with 2 egg slices, but they still fell apart. I put the others on for another 40 minutes – one was still soft the others were slightly firmer. I will try them again in my Sear & Cook and see how they go there……

    1. That’s definitely not normal – they are ALWAYS super crispy never soggy
I know you also said you added black pudding to your hotdogs so that may have contributed to the unusual result, when you change a recipe it can change the outcome 🙂
