125g Salted butter
1 cup full cream milk
1 x 395g tin condensed milk
1Add everything except the condensed milk to the slowcooker.
3Cook on high for 3 hours with the lid off stirring occasionally.
5Add the condensed milk. Mix well and cook on high for another 2-3 hours with the lid off stirring frequently (about every 20 minutes). It will become a nice caramel colour when it is done.
7**Very important** When it is done whisk vigorously for 10 minutes. Then quickly pour into a buttered lamington tray.
9Leave to set overnight on the kitchen bench.
13Can be stored in airtight container in pantry

I’m going to try this in a Tefal Multicook and Stir where you can change the temperature and it has a blender stirrer with it. Any thoughts on if this would work with same timing?

If it doesn’t ‘set’ (should be quite hard) you can always heat it back up and cook it for a little longer. It works!

I have made tablet for years and used to always use granulated sugar, I was wrong. This is better and faster (to make) with castor sugar

For some comments- I don’t think 10 minutes is long enough to beat it in the end.. It will be like toffee/fudge .. You really have to beat tablet for half an hour -45 mins until your arms practically falling off in order for it to be good. I’ll give the slow cooker a try though

I’m wondering if a whisk is ok or whether to try my electric beaters 🙂 I will let you know the outcome!

Have you ever tried aniseed in fudge. You used to be able to buy squill candy I’m wondering if fudge was a base for that with aniseed. Would it still set

Time you try the slow cooker way then 😉

We have made this for decades the regular way. Standing and stirring for 25 minutes. We also add chopped walnuts in the last 5 minutes as it helps tone down the sweetness
