Toad in the hole ~ Slow cooker style
Serving: 2
Ingredients
- sausages
- batter mix
- egg
- water
- tsp baking powder
Instructions
- Mix up batter mix with egg, water following packet instructions, I added baking powder,
- Fry sausages in a little olive oil till browned well,
- Add to slow cooker on high heat and add the batter
- Cook for 2 and half hrs, with a tea towel under lid

I tried this recipe and it didn’t work out so well for me. It was overcooked on the outside and almost runny in the middle. I would suggest a longer cooking time on a lower temperature.
Are the batter mixes available in Australia? If so what brand please.

1 cup flour (plain)
1 cup milk
3 eggs
Pinch salt
Whisk lots of air bubbles in
Awesome recipe! It isn’t the same as oven baked but it is definitely a close second and a favourite in our house now! Cannot wait to make it again!
I added a chopped onion and a few mushrooms – browned and softened, then added to the slow cooker, put it on high, then fried the sausages and continued with the recipe. Came out perfect!
Can you use this with vegetarian sausages
I’ve never tried myself Daniel, but assuming you can sub them into other sausage recipes, I don’t see why you couldn’t do so here too 🙂
