Juicy corned silverside with a hint of orange

1 piece of corned silverside (size to suit your needs)

1 orange thinly sliced


1Place half the orange slices on the base of insert

2Rinse meat under cold water (optional)

3Place meat on top of orange

4Cover meat with remaining orange

5Nothing else, not even water

6Cook on low 8 hours or until cooked

7Even though cooked with no added liquid it is still juicy.

8The orange flavour is mild and through the whole piece of meat.

9Cooked in Aldi 3L slow cooker.

The family said it was nice, juicy and tender, they loved it how it had orange taste to it because instand of using one orange I used two.

I found this to be a bit of a weird taste to the buds. Don’t get me wrong it was nice -just don’t think it will be something on my hit list.
Also – side note,
I turned the juice of the silverside into a gravy and added grated ginger. Turned out OK.

Success!! First time I cooked this and the family loved it. The orange definitely gave it a sweet yet savoury kick to it. Confident now that I can cook corn beef will definitely be trying other variation of the corn beef recipes.

Tried this for the first time and it was a hit with the family. The citrus juice from the orange added a sweet savoury taste to the meat and it was so tender. Cooking it was so easy. This meal will definitely be added to more family meals to come.
