  1. This worked fantastically for me and I can’t wait to make it into pies today. About 3/4 way into booking I addedsome extra gravy powder to soak up juices. I have also added diced bacon. Definitely don’t this again for pie fillings

  2. Sorry, silly question but I’m asuuming its raw mince you add and is the gravy powder made up with liquid or just 1/2 cut actual powder.?

  3. Such a versatile dish. I always add frozen mixed veg.
Great on mash or a shepherds pie, on toast, with chips or in pies. Also freezes really well.

  4. We make this on days when I’m super busy and have heaps of running around to do. I stir it every time I pass it and every single time, it turns out PERFECT! The day I cook it, we’ll have it for dinner on a bed of mash with some greens, OR for something a little different, we make baked potatoes (which are fun for the kids to help with) and top them with this delicious gravy mince and cheese etc.
The night after, we always have the perfect amount leftover for a small shepherds pie. We all have a portion of this plus whatever veg we have in the crisper for a side. I’ve never altered the recipe because I think it is perfect just the way it is ?

  5. Delish!
Followed the recipe but added in half a bag of frozen mixed veggies, served it ontop of thin noodles. Dinner and a Couple of portions in the freezer for another day ??

  6. If you add diced potatoes, do they need to be parboiled first, or if raw is the cooking time longer? Thank you

  7. I followed this recipe exactly and it was a hit. The 5 and 8 year old devoured it. Hubby declared it tastes exactly like meat pie mince. This will become a regular for us for sure!

  8. 5 stars
Made this tonight – I added some mushrooms and a can of chilli beans (as I only had 600g mince and it didn’t look like it was going to be enough).
Served it with potato mash and salad.
Another sure-fire winner – clean, licked plates all round 🙂
