A super simple, extra tasty buttermilk cabbage - a great vegetable side dish to your next main meal :)
1 hr 45 mins
1 hr 50 mins
1/4 of a large green cabbage sliced
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons of butter
1Add all ingredients to slow cooker
2I used my 1.5L slow cooker - a larger cooker may need extra milk
3Cook on HIGH for 1hr 45mins
4As slow cookers vary just keep an eye on yours during cooking to ensure it's not drying out and that at the end it is done to your liking of tender :)

My household didn’t enjoy this at all. My 10 year old has just started to enjoy cabbage boiled in water on the stove and then served with butter, however she would not eat this.

Made this during the week, as a side, along with mashed potato, to accompany Fresh Chicken and Veg rissoles. I only added some salt and white pepper – it was perfect!!

I made this for the first time tonight with a little bit of salt and pepper and came out delish. wouldn’t change a thing! hubby even gave it the tick of approval!
i was thinking though that if i added bacon to this it would be very similar to a dish my mum used to make when i was a child.

I can highly recommend this! Especially with some leek added in it too… And then the other week we even changed it up (made it extra naughty) by changing the butter and milk to garlic and herb cream cheese 🙈 My waist hates me, but it tasted soooo good that my 5 kids all enjoyed it too 😊 xx

Thank you Paulene, it did taste just like my Mum made on the stovetop.
I added a little white pepper like she used to do and as my little slow cooker run hot I cooked for 1 hour on high then 45 minutes on low. It was fabulous
