Slow cooker tuna mornay from scratch

Ingredients
 

  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 x finely diced onion
  • 1 med can corn kernels
  • 1 large can tuna in brine
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes

Instructions
 

  • Strain tuna brine into a jug
  • Place strained corn kernels, finely diced onion and strained tuna in a mixing bowl flaking tuna with a fork and season with salt and pepper well.
  • Stir to combined.
  • On a stove top in saucepan over med heat melt butter combine flour till resembles wet sand and comes together. Add half the brine (discard the rest) stir till thickened.
  • Gradually add milk stirring till smooth before adding more milk. Repeat till all milk combined. Keep stirring and add in half cup cheese, stir till melted. Add tuna, corn and onion mix into sc.
  • Pour cheese sauce over and stir till combined.
  • Top with either cornflakes or bread crumbs and grated cheese.
  • Low 2 -2.5 hrs with tea towel under lid

  1. Only thing I changed was double the sauce mixture and added cooked pasta but the sauce was amazing it goes very well with the tuna
