This dish was absolutely delicious. I added mushrooms to the dish and I used chicken thighs. The French onion soup mix I used was a supermarkets own brand and very cheap as was the thousand island dressing. Not one complaint from my family who ate every last bit. Served with garlic bread and chicken rice. Thanks so much. This is my new favourite x

I love this dish . I sometimes add veg towards the end. A little bit of chilli is nice also.

Love this one also! Have made a few times now we add in sliced onions, sometimes sliced mushrooms or capsicum, it’s really a great platform for adding whatever you like. Yum yum! Making again this week

I went Camping during the week , or was that Glamping as i took my 3.5 Ltr slow Cooker .We ate late because of our Schedule so my Daughter and myself had Dinner on a moonlit night sitting outside our Tent Eating Slow Cooked Thousand Island Chicken , a recipe i found on here some time ago. Deliciously Awesome.
Very Easy to Make , not expensive though i only used 1.2 Kg chicken thighs . I am not a good cook by any means but with this i have nothing but complments

I only used 2 very large skinless breasts. Cooked on low for 7hrs. Used all the onion soup and flour to coat. Also used the full bottle of sauce. Was so tender, it melted in our mouths. Sauce didn’t evaporate during cooking either. Will definitely be a favourite for us.

I was wondering if any bottle of dressing would work with this? I have just cleaned out my pantry and found a bottle of Casear salad dressing that I won’t use as a dressing and thought maybe I could substitute it into this recipe. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Have made this before and added a heaped teaspoon of smoked paprika, but I didn’t coat chicken in flour and soup, I added soup to dressing and mixed it through chicken,, yummo am making it again and maybe add a squeeze of lemon as well

Had been wanting to try this recipe for along time but not quite sure about it. I used breast instead and added a little sour cream at the end. Definitely worth a try.

Delicious!!! Added onion, carrot, peas and corn. Yum!

  15. Talia Pershouse

This was delicious. I used 4 breasts diced up that weighed 1.3kg and the meat to sauce ratio was perfect . It cooked very quickly though 3hrs on low If I remember right.

Omg why haven’t I cooked this earlier… it was Delish. I used 1.2kg chicken thigh, the soup packet, flour, and the whole bottle of dressing. Cooked on low for 5 hours and it was perfect. I also added a small onion and 3 small carrots. My kids looked at it and said ‘I’m not eating that’ let’s just say they’re bowls were empty, they loved it.

Absolutely fabulous! My husband took four pieces to lunch and complained because he didn’t take more. Served over rice. I saved the extra sauce, skimmed the fat off and stuck it in the freezer. Can’t wait to figure out what to do with it.

Made this for dinner tonight, i added capsicum & Hokien noodles. It tastes so yum.

My husband doesn’t like salad dressings so does it taste like that still. He doesn’t like mushrooms either but doesn’t realise it is in lamb obsession. That’s why I’m asking is the taste still like salad dressing

This dish is amazing. Thank you for sharing the recipe. I did not use the flour but I did everything else according to the directions you gave. And towards the end I added a few vegetables. Love it. A new favorite to make in my crock pot on a regular basis now.

My husband LOVES 1000 Island Dressing. So, of course I had to make this. I sprinkled some A&W Burger seasoning on top because he LOVES that too. I’m not a huge of of 1000 island, it’s ok. but this is delicious! Thank you!

I didn’t think I would like it as I had never tasted Thousand Island Dressing. I always thought it was for seafood. But it was really yummy and this is the first thing that I have cooked (after 10 years) that my mother-in-law actally liked and asked to cook more than once.

Sadly my dad’s slowly dying in an aged care facility and i needed something easy and quick to cook not an all day meal. Get in exhausted at 4pm. On hight for 2 and a half hours with chicken thighs was delicious with some creamy mash. Added jalapeños on top of hubby’s and mine when played. Will definitely do this meal again!!

May I ask if I want to half this recipe do you have everything the French onion soup and the dressing ?
    Sounds delicious ?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central

Depends how saucy you like it, if you are serving with rice etc you may like extra sauce. However, if you do decide to half it then do halve both the soup and dressing to keep the balance right 🙂

I would never have thought about putting these ingredients together. We decided too give it a go and all we could say well there you go and how delicious it is. Will definitely be making it again. I also put sour cream in at the end and it really thickened.

  28. Melissa wiliams

Super tangy, added a can of coconut cream made it taste much better ?

This was really tasty and easy to make. I used coconut flour and added carrots and celery with a couple of hours left to cook. Served with roast pumpkin and steamed broccoli. Will definitely make again.

  30. Amanda Flowers

If it’s too tangy, coconut cream any good?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central

Hi Amanda, yes you could mute it down with a small amount of coconut cream, just add 1tsp of cornflour to it before adding it

I cooked this today and served it with microwave rice. I followed the recipe exactly and it was so delicious.
On an extremely busy day it only required a few minutes prep and we’re now fully satisfied.
I’ll definitely be cooking this again.
Thank you Robyn for an easy, delicious recipe. We give it 10/10

I improvised as I wanted to use up my Lime, sweet chilli sauce & garlic aoli.(together they made the same colour as TI dressing 😄).
I halved the ingredients added some potatoes & carrots. Then later some broccolini.
It was tangy and delicious. Totally different flavour to anything I’ve made before. But husband also loved it.
I’m beginning to think that anything goes- in a SC 🫶🏽

That’s so wonderful to hear you enjoyed it! Great adaptations Margaret 🙂
