This is great! Apricot Chicken is good again with no nasties.
Thank you so much for this recipe, I’ve been searching for ages for the soup mix x
Had trouble finding Dried French Onion Soup Mix, and made this mix up. So thank you for this. Made it up this morning, minus the curry powder, and used it with Slow Cooked Sausages for this evenings meal. I was worried it might be a too spicy for me – but it was fine. My other-half and our sons loved it. Thank you for a mix that I know what’s in it – and no nasties.
Since the packet mixes are not gluten free I’m loving this mix.
Great idea so you never run short on F O S.
So easy to make and lets me add more or less to the sc meals. Thanks so much for sharing this Tanya, you are a sc legend!
This is awesome! I like making my own condensed soup and dried soup mix but I’m not clever enough to work out the ingredients myself. This one gets printed for me … now!
Could u use vegetable stock powder instead I’m a vegetarian?
Yes I would do so if I was you that’ll be fine 🙂
We find this an excellent mix , easy to make up and adds great flavour to dishes ..
A comment about making your own dried foods. I have looked on the packets in the supermarket, (such as taco mix) and more or less used the same ingredients. I don’t know whether French onion soup has actual onions in it but you can used dried fried shallots (tasty) or even bonito flakes.
One comment you made was that 3tbls makes equivalent to a packet of soup mix. Is that a 40g packet?
Hi Paulene, would this work for a chicken soup mix if I sub out the onion powder for chicken stock powder?
I want to make this big dont have dried onion flakes could you use a normal onion
Because it’s being stored you will need to source the dried onion flakes for this, not wet fresh onion
