Bacon Bone & Lamb Shank Soup

Ingredients
 

  • 1 Lamb Shank (medium to large)
  • 1 Bacon Bone ( large)
  • 2 large carrots
  • 2 Large Celery Sticks
  • 2 large potatoes
  • 1 large sweet potato
  • 1 Large brown onion
  • 2 tablespoons of mix herbs
  • 2 tablespoons of minced garlic
  • 70 grams of tomato paste ( optional )
  • 4 Cups of chicken stock
  • 1 Cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of soup mix

Instructions
 

  • Chop up all veggies up and place in slow cooker.
  • Add garlic, mixed herds & tomato paste on top
  • Pour over chicken stock & water, give it a mix through
  • Add bacon bone & lamb shank and cook on high for 2 hours then turn down on low for 4 to 6 hours.. the last 2 hours I add the soup mix to cook.
  • When cooked take out the meat and take meat off the bone and cut up and put back in the soup
  • Serve with Crispy bread or buns. Enjoy 🙂

  1. It was yummy, I added some dried rosemary, thyme and a bay leaf at the starting some salt and pepper and about a tsp of honey of honey about half an hour before serving, only because I found it needed some sweetening.

      It’s the dried split pea kind of mix called “soup mix” Kerry, you can see it in the photo here on this recipe, it’s the bag up the bag against the tiles 🙂

    Delicious! It is just starting to turn chilly in Brisbane so perfect time to try this soup. Has an ‘oops’ moment while making and grabbed dried red lentils instead of soup mix while making soup but tasted beautiful. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
