Hoisin Chicken
I use this recipe to meal prep a whole chicken, then I shred it and freeze in portions!
Equipment
- 6L slow cooker
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken
- 240 gram jar of hoisin sauce – I use Lee Kum Kee brand
Instructions
- I use this recipe to meal prep a whole chicken into portions of cooked chicken. Alternatively it could of course also be served as a hot chicken meal with vegetables or salad!
- Place whole chicken in slow cooker – breast side down
- Pour over the hoisin
- Cook on low for 6-7hrs or until no longer pink and juices run clear.
- When I am shredding it I store it overnight in fridge. Easier to handle and shred the next day when cold 🙂 I get 8 portioned bags of chicken meat from a medium-large whole chicken

Thank you for sharing Paulene,
Simple 2 ingredients and placed in my SC, I had a 2.5kg Whole chicken, I cooked on low for 7 hours
(When taking the chicken out the legs & wings feel off which was great and knew it was cooked and tender)
We removed the chicken breasts as whole pieces to freeze for individual dinners and will be awesome when I work nights and feel like a night off cooking ☺️ and we also shredded the rest of the chicken and placed in fridge for wraps and froze a small container of shredded too
Wonderful to read your feedback! Thanks for taking the time xx
Made this last night and it was delicious! Easy 2 ingredients and tasty. I made a gravy with gravy mix and added a small amount of the juice from the chicken which was also delicious. Plenty left for sandwiches
We love easy! 🙂 🙂
