Slow Cooked Goat Curry

Ingredients
 

  • 1kg Goat meat (I'm using a combo of loin chops, forequarter chops and diced goat)
  • 2 red onions chopped
  • 1.5 inch ginger, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 TBS olive oil
  • 1 tbls Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp cardamom Powder
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1-2 long red chilies, minced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 800g can diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala powder, or more to taste

Instructions
 

  • sear the goat and onions and add to SC
  • add all ingredients listed except tomatoes, water and garam masala
  • (you will add this at the end).
  • Set SC to high and cook for 4 hours - stirring the curry every hour or so.
  • After four hours, add tomatoes, water and garam masala. Cook on high for another hour or until the meat is tender.
  • Notes: *dont like goat.? Switch it for venison, buffalo,mutton or lamb.
  • Typically i get a 2kg goat leg cut into pieces.

    Beautiful and worked well. Easy to make. I will add some sultanas next time.

    I loved it but the family found it too hot and spicy. I added beans, sweet potato and pumpkin to the dish. Next time I will leave out the chilli.
