Serving: 6
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 2 hours
Total Time 2 hours 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken breast fillet
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 bamboo skewers

Instructions

  • Are you tired of chicken skewers/kebabs burning in your fry pan? No more!
  • This recipe includes it's own marinade but will work equally well with pre marinated skewers or with a bottle marinade if you choose 🙂
  • Soak bamboo skewers in water for 2hrs while marinating chicken
  • Combine garlic, soy sauce and oil in a bowl
  • Cut chicken into large cubes
  • Add chicken to marinade, mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2hrs+ (overnight is great if you wish to prepare these the day prior to cooking too)
  • Remove skewers from water and carefully thread chicken chunks on to skewers.
  • I filled 6 skewers.
  • Lay baking paper on bottom of slow cooker
  • Gently place skewers onto baking paper, cover and cook on HIGH for 2hrs.
  • I turned half way through cooking time 🙂

    This is a winner, Yum!
A quick and easy option works well with wings and drumsticks as well, we used a Coconut Amino sauce in place of soy due to allergies and couldn’t tell the difference.

They’ll be a little dried out over that long

  2. Do these have to be placed single layered in the slow cooker or can they be stacked on top of each other?

Single is ideal if they fit. However if you stack them just rotate the stack position during cooking so they all get time on the bottom where it’s heated more.

I have done these in my baby. I line baby with baking paper first, including up the side. The ones I’ve done have come from my butcher. Use some pliers to shorten the sticks and stand them upright or on an angle. They cook perfectly. Still only takes 3 to 4 hours on low.

I cooked 10x satay chicken skewers (store bought) on high for 2.5hrs. Chicken was so tender & fell off the skewers! Easy clean up as well with using baking paper to line the SC. Easy dinner for 4.

I used satay marinade. It turned out quite saucy, not what I was expecting. But it was still ok.

Used bought skewers, and flipped them halfway through the cooking time. Delicious. This is the 2nd time cooking these in the slow cooker, so easy and tender.

Looking for a way to make a huge batch of these for a party but afraid they won’t cook through if the crock pot is filled. Would it work to partially cook them before putting them in the crock pot?

Jennifer what if you instead cooked them then added them to a warmed slow cooker on keep warm setting to serve them from as guests help themselves?

  8. I used this ‘Marinated Chicken Kebab Sticks’ recipe to cook up a pack of 6 lamb koftas.
Cooked on High for just over 2 hours.
Served on rice with a side of tzatziki dip.

Koftas are so yummy done this way aren’t they Nadine – I often do lamb and mint ones on Australia Day too 🙂

Was wondering if I made lamb koftas as I see another person did successfully and cooked on high for 2 hours could I cook on low for 4-6 hours instead??

I’d think they’d be done in 3-4hrs easily Vanessa at the most 🙂

  10. A tasty meal of Honey Soy Chicken kebab sticks
I cooked 10 sticks, already marinated from Coles.

Mr Teenager and I had ours with a serving of rice.
Whilst Hubby took the chicken off his sticks and had his with salad on wraps.

I cooked 12 honey soy Kebabs from the supermarket for 2 hours 15 minutes on high.
    Turned them after an hour.
    They were juicy & delicious.
Not dry like cooked in a regular oven.
My new favourite way to cook Kebabs.
    Set & forget!
    Yum.

So today I thought I’d try cooking marinated bought kebabs in the sc n they turned out quite nice 😍 the best thing about cooking them in the sc was not having to worry about turning them over or burning them etc. will definitely cook them this way again 🙂👍🏼
