Omg. This was so good. I added a little extra garlic powder ( i love garlic). Everyone loved it, even the veggie hating grandchild. I will definitely be making this again ?

Can you add potatoes and broccoli with this? And how would you adjust the recipe to suit the potatoes?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central April 15, 2020

You could add broccoli with no changes needed. Potato wouldn’t be soo good as it would need longer cooking time which would overdo the soft cauli/brocc

This is the only way I will ever cook cauliflower again.
    Absolutely delicious ?

  4. If you’re adding other veg such as potato, perhaps par boil the potato first to get it started.

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central May 1, 2020

Yes you can 🙂 Just be sure it’s hot through and tender

  5. So good, the only change we made was real garlic not garlic powder. We used 3 cloves.

  6. Hi Paulene, if I’m doubling the recipe in my large slow cooker would I need to cook more than 2 hours ?
    Regards Sharon

Hi Sharon, sorry I only just noticed this question now after we discussed it on the group this morning. Since you did it 3hrs and it wasn’t quite done I’d suggest others add that hour then check it each 15mins after that x

A really delicious side dish. I made with cauliflower and broccoli. Will be a regular side dish in my house ?

  10. If we used a larger slow cooker, do we double the ingredients and cook for how much longer?

  11. Absolutely delicious! I don’t think I’ll cook cauliflower any other way now!

It’s a cream that doesn’t split during cooking, it resists heat. Do you have one like that? I believe the UK folk say it’s like crème fraiche but I’m not certain. If using regular cream I suggest adding 1-2 tsp of cornflour to it before adding as this helps resist splitting also 🙂

Really good, really easy. Definitely will be making again, thank you Paulene.

  13. I made this one for the first time and it will not be my last, what a great way to have Cauliflower..
We have a camping trip planned and this will be on the menu when we are at Takaraka camping ground on our powered site (taking the 2 pot SC with us)
If you like Cauliflower, you will definitely enjoy this recipe…!

  14. I love making this, it’s so easy and the whole family loves it. Sometimes I do half broccoli and half cauliflower and it’s just as delicious.

  15. Could you double all the ingredients and make this as a main meal not a side dish
And if so, would it need to cook for longer?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central February 11, 2022

No reason you couldn’t double it for a main 🙂 It would just take a little longer is all – or if you did it in a 6L instead of the 3.5L the times would probably still be similar as it would be emptier so cook hotter 🙂

Could you please tell me what cooking cream is. What would be the equivalent in the uk? Thanks

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central April 19, 2022

Cooking cream is one that resists splitting when heated Lin

  17. I cooked this for Easter lunch, without bacon as I had none as added broccoli. OMG! Best bake I’ve ever done. So yummy and massive win with the family

Made this last night, it was super delicious. Took a bit longer than recipe stated but I didn’t cut the cauliflower small.

I don’t really like cauliflower but omg this was delicious.
I used full cauliflower and broccoli head and one zucchini, keeping the same amount of liquid.
Yum yum yum, hubby said he could eat this everyday.

I found this recipe about 6 weeks ago and it is delicious, I have made it every week since. One time I didn’t have any cooking cream so I used cheese sauce and it was still great

  24. I did this a couple of days ago and I pimped it a bit. We were out of bacon so I chopped up some ham instead. Chopped up a chicken thigh fillet into bite size pieces, browned them in a pan first and added them. Added some broccoli as well. Chopped up a couple of mushrooms too. So it became a complete meal rather than a side dish which fits my lifestyle perfectly. Turned out really really well. Adding this to the rotation. Might add some potatoes next time too.

  25. This is a regular and popular side dish in our house. I tend to use 1kg of frozen broccoli and cauliflower to add a bit of colour. I also add paprika to the cream with a very healthy tablespoon or three of minced garlic.
If I need to speed up the cooking time I’ll zap the veg in the microwave for 5 minutes and squeeze out excess water before adding to the slow cooker.

Yum! Made this today as I had a huge craving for cauliflower cheese. I love how saucy it is, not dry and the cauliflower is so tender. Added a bit of extra garlic powder (who doesn’t! Haha) but otherwise made it to the recipe. Will definitely make it again & likely never cook it in the oven again!
