Lamb Shanks in Char Sui Sauce

Ingredients
 

  • 6 lamb shanks
  • 11/2 tablespoon plain flour
  • 11/2 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic , finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped ginger
  • 1 small red chilli
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1/2 cup char Sui sauce
  • 1/4 cup hoi sin sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce

Instructions
 

  • Coat shanks in flour
  • Heat oil - add lamb shanks in batches and brown (remove and set aside)
  • Add onions, garlic, ginger and chilli - saute for 3-4 min
  • Add chicken stock, Char Sui sauce, Hoi Sin sauce and soy sauce, mixing well.
  • Add lamb shanks and turn to coat in sauce
  • Turn cooker to LOW setting - cook for 6-8 hours
  • When lamb is cooked, remove meat and thicken sauce by either reducing liquid or adding a little cornflour
  • Serve with mashed potato and green beans spooning as much or as little sauce as you like.

    The husbands Moans with this one said it all …. he was in heaven! 3 out of 4 kids absolutely loved it too!
