Super quick, super tasty, easy meal for the family on an unseasonably warm April day. All 4 who ate it would definitely eat it again.

Loved this! Cheap as, easy as. Def will be on the family dinner rotation!

Can I ask a stupid question?? Does the garlic butter still ooze out when you cut into these after cooking for 4 hours?? Or does it come out in the cooking process and become part of the sauce?? My hubby loves the ooze lol.

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central May 16, 2020

hahaha I totally get what you mean Brooke 🙂 Some comes out a little and some stays if that makes sense 🙂

I tried this for the first time the other night the whole family loved it, even my fussy children. My father in law was over for dinner too and raved about how nice it was. Thanks Paulene another one to add to our list of favourites ?

  5. Natasha Kidman May 24, 2020

Hubby literally scraped the leftovers from the bowl and ate it directly from the slow cooker!
A hit with him and 3 out of the 4 kids!

This is the easiest slow cooker meal, YOU’LL EVER MAKE! I used a jar of carbonara sauce from Aldi, crumbed chicken Kiev’s from Woolworths, Bacon, & grated mixed cheese on the top. I popped the cheese on about 10 mins before I turned the slow cooker off. Absolutely delicious

  7. Do you use the crumbed frozen ones from the supermarket or fresh from the butcher??

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central July 17, 2020

I use fresh ones from butcher or deli. Frozen ones are fine just defrost first 🙂

Hi! Would I need to cook for as long if I am going to use only 1 jar and 2 keivs?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central February 6, 2021

The time would still be similar to safely cook through the kiev – maybe only a smidge shorter if anything

  9. Trying this tonight but i forgot the bacon?, also when recipes are put online can we put what size slow cooker was used. This could go along with cooking time and how many it serves ( just a suggestion)

  10. Cristy Boyd June 21, 2021

Making this tonight… has anyone done it with bow tie pasta? Thoughts?

  11. Beautiful! Tried the Kiev Carbonara tonight, another hit with the family! Followed the recipe and directions exactly. Plates were licked clean and it was requested again for next week!

  12. Renee scilini June 24, 2021

Made this for dinner had it with mash and vegetables. Was a huge hit with our family will be a regular meal for us

  13. Kerry Brown August 10, 2021

So so easy and so so yummy. Also works out very cheap when my butcher has fresh Kiev’s on special, 4 for $10.
Will be making this again for sure!

This is one of our favourites! So quick and easy and very yummy! ? I’m going to make it again this week and as I have a spare leek I’m going to slice that and add it! I’ll let you know how that goes!!

  15. Can anyone advise weather I need to cook the bacon first? Just concerned about mixing raw chicken and bacon together

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central December 27, 2022

A searing one can still use the tea towel?
Do you mean maybe a multi cooker instead of an actual slow cooker?

  16. Tried this for Valentine’s Day made a couple of changes , cooked carrot rings, sliced onion & tiny button mushrooms, it was very tasty, my partner said he would have it again, leftovers the next day.

Can you make this with chicken soup instead of the carbonara sauce?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central March 27, 2023

I guess you could, though it might be saltier and of course more of a soup taste than the carbonara which is a sauce. You could always boost the flavour to your likings though 🙂

I made this tonight and it was very nice, simple and had great flavour, the family all licked their plates clean!
I used ham and cheese Kievs, next time I will use traditional garlic kievs as my own preference.

My primary school aged son makes this for the family for dinner!
    Simple but delicious.

I was sceptical of this…I LOVE kievs and thought “why change what’s not broken?”..and wasn’t sure about how well a jar sauce would taste with them…oh my was I pleasantly surprised!! absolutely delicious. This will be a regular for sure! ?

I was sceptical at first…after all, how could you make kievs taste better than they already are? especially just with a jar sauce and some bacon…but after seeing multiple happy reviews and comments I tried it and was amazed! absolutely delicious and will be making again. yum!

I did this last weekend, was delicious. I used the Kiev balls from the fresh meat department at woollies and worked really well

Great tasting and easy to make meal. Felt like a cheat night but tasted way too good to be one the man of the house was super impressed so I will definitely make this again when I’m pressed for time.

Did it twice last week lol. I use the Latina Creamy Carbonara sauce for this. Has leek and bacon in it already. Kids love this so much. Had with caesar salad. Thank you so much for this ?

OOHHMMYY this simple but full of deliciousness recipe. Hubby sure did love ? it and has asked for it to be a regular on my meal list.
NOTE: I added my usual 1 teaspoon dried thyme & 1/2 sliced leek. Cook in my 3.5L sc on low for 4 hours.
I only had 3 chicken kiev so the 3.5.L sc was the perfect size.
    Cheers Jenny P

Made this one for the first time and it was an absolute winner with the whole family. The husband has requested it everyday as he said the house smelled so yummy lol ?
Will definitely be making it again and again

This an easy put together recipe if you haven’t got a lot of time. It is also delicious. l didn’t have enough Latino Carbonara – because they only put 425g in these days, plus I used 8 kiev’s, so I used a tin of asparagus soup. This is the 3rd time I’ve made it and it will be a repeated again and again 🙂

  28. Cathy Doyle August 26, 2024

OMG! I bought 4 lovely Chicken Kiev’s from a specialty chicken shop and used the LATINA PASTA carbonara sauce from the refrigerator in the supermarket and diced bacon. This dish was a REAL pleaser in my household and the sauce was amazing!! This will definitely be on my recipe list to keep.

We’ve just had this for the first time. YUMMY!!!! ( although I forgot to put the cheese on haha)
    Will certainly be having again!
    Thank you, Pauline

    Always a pleaser.
I used what I had in pantry.
Coles creamy mushroom simmer sauce and no bacon, topped with mozzarella and grated Parmesan.
It turned out quite ok with chunks of mushrooms instead of bacon.

  31. Easy dinner on a busy day.
Used four chicken kievs from Woolworths, and a jar of Leggo’s carbonara sauce.
    Served with a salad.
Will make it again. Approved by Mr teenager.

This is delicious with 3 fussy guys in the house when we do this the plates come back nice and clean and partner takes the leftovers to work for lunch
We do this once a week

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central April 10, 2025

Thanks Tonya – sounds like a winner in your house! 🙂

  35. Have made this recipe previously, but I tried this with the Ham and cheese chicken kievs.
    Very nice.
Mr Teenager said he preferred the Ham and cheese flavour.
    Served with mashed potato.

  36. I have done this a few ways – One with 4 kievs, one with kiev minis and another with chicken tenders – all from meat section of woollies. Used Carbonara sauce for the first two and garlic and soy with the tenders. I think a Dolmio tomato simmer sauce would work well too. Next tial is the ham and cheese ones 🙂
