This is an outstanding recipe, thanks Joanne! Lovely flavour. I did this with thighs, my personal preference. I will halve the honey next time, again my personal preference

These one’s pictured are whole but there’s no reason you couldn’t cut them if you prefer. They’d cook a little faster cut.

  2. This was absolutely amazing! I used chicken thighs and reduced the cooking time by 15 mins. I can’t wait to make it again. The kids loved it too.

2.5hrs is specified for recipe. Some slow cookers vary so just be sure in your cooker that’s long enough to cook chicken through 🙂

I made this leaving out the rice wine. The chicken remained nice and moist, the flavour was just perfect. Not too weak, not too strong. I served it with Herb and garlic potato bake. The two dishes complemented each other perfectly

  4. Could I swap out the honey for brown sugar? Also could I use the searing function on my slow cooker to thicken up the sauce rather than using a fry pan?

  5. Kate yes you could opt for brown sugar add according to your taste. For sure use your searing function to thicken up the sauce.

  6. Kate you can use brown sugar instead just add what you think will suit your tastes. For sure use your searing slow cooker to reduce the sauce. Hope you like it.

  7. Made this using 2kg drumsticks. And YUM! I took the drumsticks and veggies out of the liquid with 1/2 hour to go and put them in the oven on the top shelf on 150 deg, the chicken came out brown and crisped up on top. I put beans in the liquid with 1/2 hour to go. Will def have this one again.

Loved this recipe! So tasty and easy! I used chicken drumsticks and due to being pressed for time, I browned them off first. Being a huge garlic lover, I doubled the amount and I used the tea towel trick and didn’t worry about adding the cornflour. Everyone loved it and I will definitely make it again! I served it with jasmine rice and carrot sticks.
