Serving: 5
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 5 hours
Total Time 5 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1kg chicken thigh fillets (raw and whole)
  • 2 tsp curry powder (see notes) – I use Keen’s brand
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1 x 320g small jar of Rosella fruit chutney

Instructions

  • Add chicken to slow cooker and top with onion
  • Sprinkle over curry powder (see notes)
  • Spoon over chutney and stir around to combine all ingredients
  • Cook on low for 5hrs
  • Shred to serve

Notes

  • Recipe will appear to have a lot of liquid at the end but once you shred chicken well into that liquid it absorbs it
  • This is a mild curry. If cooking for little ones they may prefer only 1tsp of curry powder for less curry taste

  1. My family loved this meal! I wasn’t sure if they would all like it but it was a big hit!

  2. Really enjoyed this. Will add more curry powder though as the chutney I used overpowered it.

  3. Very nice, served 3 adults with 2 extra servings in freezer for lunches. Served with rice, cheese and sour cream in stand and stuff tacos. YUMMO will cook again

I love this recipe, it has now become by go to Sunday dinner. I always make too much so I have left overs for lunch the next day. 🙂 So easy to make and very tasty.

  5. To make this hotter, could i just add extra curry powder? or would you suggest chilli flakes ?

    Delicious…
I did add extra keens curry powder, but I’d still call it a sweet curry.

This was really good! (And really easy too!)
The only thing that I did different was that I used 1.4kg chicken breast and a 525g of chutney.

    This was tonight’s dinner.
I stepped it up a little. I had a half tin of diced peachesleft over from another dish
Also added two teaspoons sweet chilli sauce.

  20. Family of three. Always really difficult to find something we all love as we have very different tastes. We all absolutely loved this, but I added extra curry and it was a little too hot for my hubby, so I’ll stick to your quantity next time and it should be perfect. Thanks. First of many recipes that I’ll be trying.

The flavours achieved with so few ingredients was amazing!!! My family gave it a 9 out of 10 rating and even my grandson loved it! I served it with potato cooked in chicken stock and mashed with 3 tablespoons of cream along with some broccoli. I did take the chicken out and used the sear function to cook out some cornflour to thicken the juices. YUM!!!

Such and easy to do dish, which I love. I only used about 600gm of chicken, and put in a bit more curry. Another nice sweet curry.
