Serving: 3
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 2 hours 45 minutes
Total Time 2 hours 55 minutes

Ingredients

  • 60g Melted Butter
  • 2 Cups of Self-Raising Flour (Sifted)
  • 1 cup of milk
  • Small sprinkle of Italian Herbs (Optional)
  • a pinch of salt.
  • Diced Bacon and Grated Cheese (As much as you would like and save some for the topping).

Instructions

  • Melt the Butter and then mix everything else in the bowl until combined.
  • It should form a sticky dough.
  • Next sprinkle some flour onto the bench or a board to knead the dough.
  • Keep doing this until it is no longer sticky and feels like a springy elastic dough.
  • Once that is done, form it into whatever shape you want Eg. Bread Roll Balls or just a Bread Loaf like I have done 🙂
  • Once dough is formed, add the rest of the Cheese and Bacon on the top.
  • Line the Slow Cooker with Baking Paper (I used 2 sheets) and put your bread dough in.
  • Cook on HIGH for 2 1/2 hours (Although this one I cooked took 3 hours 20minutes, as every slow cooker is different) BUT, keep checking it after the 2 hour mark to see if it is going okay! 🙂
  • Also DO NOT FORGET to put a Tea Towel under the lid and fold over the top to stop any water dripping onto the bread 🙂 🙂
  • Once cooked, take out of slow cooker and cool down a little and put melted butter on 😀 YUM!

Quite doughy and a little bland. Will up the dried herbs next time! Watch your slow cooker, I left mine in for 2 hours and was quite burnt! My fault, will check regularly next time 🙂

might try it without the italian seasoning next time tasted a little doughy but dough is not my strong point thats why i have a bread maker to do it but will try again other that with a little butter it was ok hubby will like it

  4. Very simple to make and so yummy, personally I would cook on high for 2 hours and low for the rest as my slow cooker cools hotter then others. Other then that I highly recommend this recipe, it makes a great side dish for lasagna etc or school lunches

  5. The nicest bread I’ve made in a looooooooooooong time! Lots of cheeses and lots of bacons…

It could stick with just oil Stephanie, I’d recommend the paper

      That’s correct Tim. It’s a unit of weight measurement – grams 🙂

  6. We really like the flavor! Any recommendations on how to make it less dense?

So yummo, great for snacks. I made the first batch & was so nice I made a second one & spread some tomato sauce on the top before adding the top layer of bacon & cheese…….Yummo

  9. I loved this bread.
Yes it is a little dense but it’s an easy recipe that yields a blooming delicious savory loaf. It’s great with some butter and a cup of soap. I’d 100% make this again with different flavour combinations.

This is so tasty and flexible. Loved it as did our friends. I did on top tomato sauce, grated cheese, diced ham, salt , pepper, spaghetti herbs and powdered onion. Yum. Took 2.5 -3.0 hours
