Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 8 hours
Total Time 8 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 piece of corned beef, rinsed (any size to suit your slow cooker)

MARINADE

  • 2 tblsp Honey
  • 2 tblsp Brown Sugar
  • 2 tblsp Dijon Mustard
  • 2 tblsp Wholegrain (seeded) Mustard

HONEY MUSTARD WHITE SAUCE

  • 80g plain flour
  • 80g butter
  • 500ml milk
  • 500ml reserved ‘stock’ after cooking beef

Instructions

  • Combine marinade ingredients in a small bowl. Spray slow cooker with cooking oil and place beef into cooker. Pour marinade over beef. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
  • Once cooked, pour liquid that has accumulated (the ‘stock’) into a jug and reserve (do not discard).
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat then add flour and stir for 3-5 minutes. Add 500m milkl & 500ml of reserved stock and whisk gently until thick (If you don’t have enough stock from cooking, top up with water).
  • Serve beef with honey mustard white sauce.
  • Use remaining honey mustard white sauce as a recipe base for Honey Mustard Chicken, the same as using a jar sauce (eg chicken tonight jar sauce).

  1. Made this the other night. First time cooking a silverside without any liquid so I was a bit sceptical . Absolutely loved it, it wasn’t dry at all and so tender. Even fussy daughter loved it!!

Yes I made this on Sunday night last week and it was also my first time without liquid. Absolutely devine! We all loved it! Thank you.

  3. Love this recipe. So easy and son who does not eat a lot of meat, loves this recipe. It has become a regular in our house.

  4. Love this recipe. Rinsed it well and it was less salty than regular corned beef, I think because the honey mustard flavouring was the star. I won’t make it any other way anymore. Love that there is enough sauce left for another meal too.

  5. This was a really great meal. I cooked mine 2 hrs high 3 low and it sliced perfectly and was lovely and tender. I removed the beef and added 300mls of cooking cream turned it back up to high to thicken. So yummy served with mashed potatoes and veggies with lots of sauce .

  6. Am going to try this made the one with masterfoods and it had a very vinegar taste to the sauce made the one from Coles before that it was so much better

  7. Made tonight very yummy sauce was great but meat was a bit dry cooked for 6.5 hours on slow next time will only cook for 5.5 hours
    Had heaps of sauce over

  8. Well I can honestly say that all the hype and great reviews of this recipe are totally deserving! What a flavoursome meal especially with the honey mustard white sauce drizzled all over mashed potatoes and veggies ? the silverside was cooked beautifully and tasted superb after 2.5hrs on high and another 3hrs on low ? Fantastic recipe Cindy, thanks so much for sharing it with us ? And seriously if you haven’t tried this yet…go for it!!

  9. I have slow cooked silverside the same way for 40 or so years, and this is the first recipe that’s stirred my interest enough to veer off my track! Yum Oh! My husband said “whoever refined this recipe did a good job and you can add it to the list to have again”! High praise indeed. Left over sauce has been frozen for future use.

  10. It was beautiful. I haven’t had silverside in 10 year’s because I didn’t like the way someone made it. Tried this recipe and myself, husband and 2 fussy kids loved the meat. Only 1 kid didn’t like the sauce.
It cooked a lot faster in my breville 7l dear slow cooker and was just nearly falling apart after 5 hours(2 on high and 3 on low)

  11. I made this tonight. This was just superb. Cooked on High for 3 hrs and 2.5 hrs low. Hubby devoured and plenty left over to make up 2 meals for my mum. It’s a winner.

  12. We enjoy silverside on a regular basis but this is the first time with this delicious Honey Mustard Sauce. Very, very nice and certainly a keeper, I’m so glad I didn’t halve the recipe as I was intending to do and so tomorrow I can go ahead and have the Chicken in Honey Mustard Sauce for an easy evening meal.
    Thoroughly recommend this recipe.

We enjoyed this recipe. The flavour didn’t go through the meat as much as I’d have liked and there wasn’t much sauce left at the end so I’d definitely double it next time but the crust on the meat was absolutely delicious and the meat was so tender.

  14. Made this tonight, loved it. Never made corned beef before. Heaps of leftover sauce. Would the sauce freeze ok? Don’t have use for it this week and don’t want to waste it. Thanks

  15. Just had this for lunch and it was amazing. The sauce was superb.
Now to decide what to use the left over sauce for.

  16. Ok, so This (similar) was tonights deal and was not disappointed at all.
Great Meal and the sauce was terrific, although much left over and going into a chicken meal over the next night or 2.
My change was I only had wholemeal seeded mustard so I doubled up on that and I did not have honey so I used golden syrup…
No issue at all, very much a meal to be happy with even with the changes.. not disappointed at all..!

  17. Super tender OMG. It was awesome… but too salty for my taste. I washed it well beforehand too. The sauce was nice but again, too salty for me.

  18. Meat was cooked beautifully-3 hours on high 2 on low. Sauce was so good. Served with mashed potato and pumpkin, steamed cabbage and corn cobs. Only problem was the meat was salty, I presume this was more to do with the corned beef itself rather than the recipe

  19. This was such a hit in our household. All 3 kids loved it and we served the left over sauce with chicken and rice the next day. Making again this week. ?

  20. I did this 10 hrs on low, and to be honest, it could have done with more. Flavour was nice but not tender. Next time ill put it on high for awhile first, then turn it down. Sauce was yummy.

  21. Made this today – Yummy Was a big hit with the family and very easy to do. Will definitely make again.

  22. Made this dish today – yummy. Will definitely make it again. I also paired it with the honey mustard potatoes ?. Both so easy to do which was a bonus.

  23. Made this recipe many many time family love it
I’ve tried different honey with the recipe and found the Australian Yellowbox all natural honey give a lovely flavour

  24. I had never made corned beef silverside before but when I came across this recipe I knew I had to try it. After being worried all day that I was going to do something wrong, it turned out amazing. I used a 1.6kg piece of meat and cooked it on low for 7 hours; perfect. Hubby could not stop raving about how good it was. I will definitely be making this again. Thank you for the recipe.

  25. I was looking for something different to do with my corned beef and I tried this recipe… Well O.M.G we thoroughly enjoyed this..I think this recipe is a keeper. I served it on mashed potatoes and a side of mixed veggies.. yummmm! I have a couple of pieces leftover which I will put into a crusty roll today and enjoy that as well.. Highly recommend ????

We loved this recipe! So easy and full of flavour. I didn’t have 8 hours so it was on high for around 4.5 hours. It wasn’t pull apart flaky but sliced beautifully. Followed the recipe exactly however after reading comments only made 3/4 of the sauce and there was plenty. Yummy leftovers too! Thank you!

I was also a bit nervous about cooking Silverside without added liquid but followed the recipe. It was easy to make anddelicious. Will definitely make again. Didn’t make the White Sauce but thickened the liquid with a cornflour slurry and served with roast pumpkin, broccoli, carrots and beans.

This was really nice I just did it as per recipe and served with mash and veggies, the left over silverside was used in sandwiches and the left over sauce was used in a pasta dish the next night ?

This recipe is perfect exactly as written. We will be trying the Honey Mustard Sauce suggestion with chicken tomorrow.

Marinade quantities are easy to remember and after 8hrs the meat is lovely and tender. This is my go to recipe for making corned beef (sans sauce).
Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe Paulene
