Apple, Cinnamon and Sultana Porridge
Nothing better on a cold winter morning then a ready to serve pot of warming porridge! I put this on before the kids wake up for school, and when I’m ready to serve breakfast, it’s ready and waiting 🙂
Equipment
- 1.5L slow cooker
Ingredients
- 1 cup quick cook oats
- 1 cup Boiling Water
- 1.5 cups milk
- 1/2 cup cooked canned apple (pie fruit)
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 2 x 150 gram boxes of sultanas and apple (or plain sultana if you prefer)
Serving Optional Additions:
- Maple syrup drizzle and, or, additional fruits/berries
Instructions
- Add oats to 1.5L slow cooker
- Combine boiling water and milk BEFORE adding these liquids to your slow cooker (boiling water can otherwise crack a cold slow cooker bowl)
- Add apple, cinnamon, and sultanas/apple to bowl and stir all to combine
- Cook on HIGH for 1hr 10mins approx. (see note)
- Serve with a drizzle of syrup or more of your favourite fruits/berries
- –Notes–Keep an eye on porridge for the first time you cook it towards the end ofcooking time to make sure there is enough liquid to your liking. If you feel it’s drying out you can add asplash of extra milk or hot water If you use a larger cooker remember that the porridge will cook muchfaster/hotter so may need extra liquid until it’s cooked to tender.
