Maple Mustard Silverside
With so many ways to do silverside in the slow cooker I’m still always looking for something new – when I created this one I knew that it just may become our new permanent way to cook it – it was THAT good!!!
Equipment
- 3.5L slow cooker or larger
Ingredients
- 2 kg piece of corned beef silverside
- 1/2 cup Maple syrup
- 1/4 cup wholegrain seeded mustard
Instructions
- Rinse silverside and place in slow cooker
- Combine syrup and mustard and pour over the silverside
- DO NOT ADD water – at the end of cooking you will see the meat is half submerged in the cooking liquids already – trust the process ?
- Cook on high for 6hrs or low for 9hrs
- Slice and serve
- As seen on page123 of our 6th book Ready Set Cook

Oh my this was amazing. The meat was tender and the flavour of the sauce was not sweet at all. Yum
Oh this version is amazing…vert tasty and even though I am a die hard ginger beer version cook; this would rival it in my book. Will now be rotating both versions when cooking silverside. Delish
Love this recipe so much. Such a beautiful flavour & only 4 ingredients – the best!
Holy. Moly. I’m honestly not a huge fan of silverside (was cooking this mostly for my wife and our friend)… but I think this recipe has made me like silverside! Guessing it must be witchcraft.
Hahaha love this feedback Katherine – made me laugh 🙂
I’ve tried this recipe and it’s absolutely amazing. So tender and tasty ?
This was amazing! It all disappeared so I have to cook another one to have for cold meat
The meat became very tender however I would cut back on the maple syrup if I make it again as was a bit too sweet for our taste.
Ha ha might have to revise to 5 stars as we couldn’t stop nibbling at it after lunch, was so good. ( Di, Diane)
tried this for the first time last night, it was very nice and will certainly do it again, I thought it may have been too sweet but it wasn’t.
Tried this for the first time tonight – I usually do the traditional vinegar, brown sugar and bay leaves, but this was excellent. Will definitely be making this on regular rotation. Thanks Paulene.
Omg !!!!
Melt in your mouth silverside
Just delicious
Can’t wait to have it again !!!
This was a real hit in house, everyone loved the flavour and the meat was super tender.
This recipe is simple & amazing, It is now my go to for Corned Beef / Silverside, it is so delicious, at the end I make a white cheesy sauce (separatley) but with the juices added from the slow cooker and add an extra teaspoon of seeded mustard
A-MAZ-ING
Cooking this now on regular rotation after introducing it to a family that said they hate corned beef.
A household fav!! I make this regularly, served with potatoes and carrots (steamed, boiled or slow cooked!!) After removing meat from slow cooker to slice, I always use the liquid left at the bottom to make a delicious sauce!! Simply whisk in some butter, milk or cream and cornflour or plain flour to thicken. So so good and heaps better than the traditional “boiled in clove water” which I hate!! ???
OMG…So damn delish.
2.7kg corned SS cooked on low 10hr!
Seriously the best silverside recipe I’ve ever tried! Absolutely delicious and everyone had empty plates, even went back for seconds 👌
This is one of my favourites! Served with homemade mustard cheese sauce!
Paulene..
instead of maple syrup..would it work with Golden syrup instead..?
thanks..Sandy
It would work yes – could be a little sweater but still delish I think!
Let us know how you go 🙂
I made this recently and was blown away! Not usually a huge fan of silverside but this is and absolute game changing. I’m making it again tonight for myself and my partner (who also loved it)
I haven’t made corned beef any other way since trying this recipe! It’s fantastic! My fussy, usually non- meat eating 6 yo also loves it. I always cook on high for the 6 hours as I find the meat is more tender and better cooked than when done on low. I also make the most delicious sauce by making a roux with flour and butter in a pan on the stove and then tipping in all the cooking juices from the slow-cooker once the meat is removed. Add a little extra maple syrup /whole -grain mustard to taste and when thickened and bubbling, add a dash of cream! It’s soooo good!!!
Maybe I need some help with this ……
Okay I am not sure how you all say this was the best silverside ever. I done this recipe tonight and while the meat undoubtedly the tenderest meat ever it was also not a great taste. I got my silverside from my butcher whom I get all out meat from .
I followed the recipe to a Tee I rinsed that silverside so many times and cooked as per instructions and I found the meat to still have that salty taste.
I was going to cook this as a meal for some friends but I am so thankful I tried it first I would have been so horrified to serve this up to friends.
So unless I have done something wrong I will never cook silverside with maple syrup again.
I will be trying the ginger beer recipe next.
Divine recipe!
I have made this quite a few times now & is a family fave! My silversisde piece was 2.5kg
Cooked on low & slow for 9hr, served with mashed potatoes, peas/corn & cheesy mistard sauce (home made)! Delish 😋
That’s so lovely Tracey and thanks too for always taking the time to leave your feedback 🙂
Omg the silverside just fell apart do tender and very yummy, highly recommend
That’s great to know Mish 🙂 Well done, sounds like you cooked it perfectly!
Thanks too for taking the time to leave your feedback, it’s so appreciated 🙂
Absolutely wonderful. I substituted honey for the maple as thats all I had in the cupboard but it still worked so well.
How wonderful to hear! Thanks so much for sharing your fab 5-star feedback Steve 🙂
omg this is the best,I was the citrus silverside, prior to the ginger silverside and this has topped everythingm
Awesome!! And thanks for leaving your lovely feedback Michelle 🙂
This is a family fave.
I love the simplicity of it, and the subtle maple mustard flavour combination. This time 2.7kg big piece of silversode. Cooked on low for 8hr.
Sings “simply the best, so much better than all the rest”, I was in love with the Citrus Silverside but this is my new favourite.
hahahaha love it!!
