Made this today but I accidentally added condensed cream of asparagus soup instead of the mushroom. It gave the gravy an extra little kick! The family were asking what did I do different this time cause it was great.. I just said a change of soup.. They don’t need to know! Will use the asparagus regularly.

I made this last week. I put it on in the SC before I left for work in the morning (about 6:45). I then went to work all day and then to a physio appointment after work. Got home from work and finally got around to eating it right around 7:00 pm. It cooked for about 12 hours all up…was delicious! I used a 2 kilo chuck roast and it just fell apart in the SC. I had intended that we use it in sandwiches, and I was able to pull the meat apart just using my wooden spoon, no shredding needed. Made some sliders out of it and used a fresh coleslaw mix (just the veggies without the sauce) on the sandwiches. Used the meat with a little bit of the gravy…divine! 🙂

  3. I made this today for the first time. I have a very fussy Miss 8 and she absolutely loved it.

Made this for the first time yesterday and everyone in the family loved it! I added 1 tablespoon of crushed garlic and 1 tablespoon of worcestershire sauce to the sauce and served with roast potato and pumpkin and honeyed carrots. The beef was the most tender I’ve ever tasted and was full of flavour and the gravy was devine, I definitely recommend for you to give this recipe a try 🙂 just don’t tell my other half that it has cream of mushroom soup in it… I didn’t and he loved it 😉

This recipe is amazing, the beef was so tender and the sauce/gravy is just delicious. I was worried it would be sweet but its perfect. We had it with mash potato but would be fabulous on rolls with salad as well which is what Im going to do next time.

Awesome and simple, just the way i like it.

I used a 1.5kg topside roast it turned out exceptionally good, meat was so tender.
The leftover meat went into tacos the day after. Satisfying on so many levels.
    YUMMMMM.

If you are worried it will taste like mushroom, it won’t. However you could change to an alternative soup if you want but it will change the recipe 🙂

I used diced beef and also added som shredded frozen vegetables and served with Mashed potatoes

This was delicious…. huge hit with the family. I added some sliced mushrooms, salt and pepper & garlic to my dish. Also found it does need thickener such as corn flour at the end for a thicker sauce.

  10. I made this for the 1st time today. It’s seems though during these strange times of covid19 that cream of mushroom soup is sold out in every supermarket. So I used cream of celery instead. Still tasted pretty amazing. Although I can’t really compare yet lol! Will try again when I can find mushroom soup:)

I had a go at making Cola beef for the first time today and it was absolutely delicious and i added 2 Tablespoon’s of honey for a little bit of sweetness and mixed herbs and about 1/1/2 half teaspoons of minced garlic and it’s nice with rump steak

Made this for the first time, and really enjoyed it (as did hubby and 2 boys!) Used a 1.6kg roast and cooked for 8.5 hours. When I tried to slice it, it pretty much shredded, so I tossed it back into the pot with the lovely sauce and let it sit for a little bit before serving. With the mushroom soup, French onion soup mix and the sweetness of cola, I found the flavour quite similar to Obsession, which is definitely a good thing. Easy and tasty – would make this one again!

This would have to be one of my favourite slow cooker meals! I usually thicken the sauce with gravy. Any leftovers go into rolls the next day.

  15. Absolutely delicious…. this will definitely be on our frequently cooked menu
Served with roast potato, onion and carrot, alongside homemade sweet potato chips
I thickened the sauce with cornflour and turned it into more of a gravy

Delicious, tho a little salty for me. I’ll halve the French onion soup or go with a low salt next time. Cooked for 8 hours on low and didn’t need to thicken gravy as it was right consistency to pour over meat and store bought hot chips.

Omg this was so so good. Will definitely make this again. Had plenty of gravy left over so I have frozen it to use in a Shepard’s pie

  18. I made this sc recipe and used coke zero. My family were raving about how good it was. We had it with veges and on bread rolls the next day too. Lots of gravy left over. Next time I will freeze the gravy to use in a sc stew.

  19. Hi. If I’m using diced steak would it take less time to cook? Thanks

  20. Hi – I’m wanting to try this and got all the ingredients except the french onion soup mix, what could I do instead, TIA

We were a bit skeptical using coke, but it was a really nice recipe we left out the mushrooms, it was a good braised steak and onion type recipe.

We were a bit intrigued with adding coke, but it was a good braised steak and onion recipe, everyone enjoyed it. We left out the mushrooms as a personal preference.

I love this recipe I have French onion soup and cola but no other soup. Can I just leave it out or do 123 beef instead. it is nearly 2kg.

The cream of soup is important in this one too – could you maybe get some?
If not go the 1-2-3 🙂

Made this for the first time tonight, followed the recipe but I did use sugar and caffeine free coke.
Turned out amazing, had it with mash and corn on the Cobb, we will definitely be having this again!

This recipe was one I really wasn’t sure about but it is lovely. I will definitely make this again. I used cream of chicken soup as I don’t like the taste of mushrooms or the thought of them.

I used beef strips with onion and there was lots of gravy, cooked 8+ hours.
It was ok, not really what I was expecting more like stroganoff mushroom gravy.

I cooked the Cola Beef today and it’s such an easy, delicious recipe that we’ll definitely be having again. Because I’m lactose intolerant I didn’t use the Cream of Mushroom soup but replaced it with beef stock and thickened it with gravy powder in the last 30 minutes of cooking.
So, tasty and delicious served with mashed vegetables and steamed corn, peas, beans and broccoli. Thank you for an awesome recipe and my Husband and I give this recipe 10/10.

cooked this one today, Meat was very tender and quite tasty. A heck of a lot of liquid, which I thickened with Deb potato flakes, then poured the gravy over the meat and air fried frozen roast vegies. Very easy dish to prepare.

Melt in the mouth deliciousness that you wished you had tried earlier!
Yum, this beef was so tender and the sauce was flavoursome. It just tasted like a rich gravy.
I stirred gnocchi through the sauce & served it with steamed veg.
    Plenty of leftovers for tomorrow.
