Plum Gravy Brisket
3 ingredients away from an amazing slow cooked brisket
Equipment
- 6L slow cooker
- Small saucepan
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg beef brisket
- 175 grams plum jam
- 2-3 tbsp Your favourite gravy powder – I use Maggi Rich Gravy Mix
Instructions
- Place brisket into your slow cooker
- Heat your jam for 1min in microwave to make it easier to spread. Brush/spread it over your brisket (I use pastry brush)
- Top with just 2 tbsp of your dry gravy powder (reserve the remaining tbsp to thicken at the end with)
- Cook on low for 8hrs Notes: My brisket was a fairly flat piece. If yours is rounder, you may like to add an extra 1-2hrs to cooking time. Alternatively, if time is short, you could also cook it for 5-6hrs on high instead. Cook until it easily comes apart.
- When ready remove the brisket and thin slice. While you are slicing the meat, move the gravy juices from the slow cooker into a saucepan over high heat. Add the remaining spoon of gravy powder and whisk over heat to thicken and reduce to a thick gravy.
- We served ours in thin slices on a bed of potato mash, and sides of steamed green beans and roasted baby carrots. Top with your amazing gravy.
