Great recipe. Family gave it thumbs up. Put chicken in oven for last 15 minutes to get crunchy skin. Just so easy and delicious.
This was easy & delicious. Even the fusshy men in the family said it was definitely on the “have to do again” list.
Forgot to say it is gluten free for coeliacs using gluten free sauces.
Magnificent and wanted to do it again almost immediately!! A very easy prep. A very easy cook and baste. An extremely delicious result. So good all my family wanted more (including the fussiest teenager in the world). Without doubt I’m doing this again soon. Thanks Paulene.
My leaning tip for next time – be prepared to thicken the sauce at the end, before serving. I couldnt wait any longer and just went for it. Even in the leftovers.
Have a friend of 20 years arriving from the USA ?? today that I haven’t seen for 17 of those years. Cooking this up for dinner tonight. Hope it doesn’t let me down to impress ??
I cooked this for the first time today and it was excellent. I drained a bit of the oil on top and thickened to make a delicious sauce. Served with fried rice. No one can move cos they are so full. Thank you for this easy and delicious recipe.
Cooked this for the first time yesterday. It was easy and delicious. Thank you for the Recipe Paulene, it is magnificent.
I did remove some of the oil from the SC at the end and thickened the sauce. My Family are all over full and moaning on the lounge. A total success.
This recipe really is magnificent. Personally in my top 4 finds on this site. So easy and so tasty!!! And this time I got organized and allowed some sauce thickening time at the end. That worked really well with a bit of cornflour. Yesterday I had to use boneless skinless chicken thighs as I had these leftover. They weren’t the biggest and I wish I’d dropped cooking time to 4 hours. They were still lovely…there are never leftovers when I do this and I’m yet to have the patience to take a photo…I just want to eat them asap!!
The kind of recipe I’d give 10 stars if I could!
Thank you SO much!
I tried this last week and it will definitely be a repeated dish in our house! I used assorted cuts, doubled the sauce (except for the soy), put in the oven at the end to brown a little while I thickened the sauce! Loved it!!!!
First time I made this, was delicious . Only used 1tbsp of sweet chilli and submitted ginger for Thai spice. Whole family loved it. Thank you
Another one to add to the favourites list. Flavours are absolutely amazing. I did add capsicum & shallots about 3.5 hrs into cooking. Skimmed fat off the top regularly & thickened at the end with cornflour. 5 stars?????
O M G! Its been a long time since I have found a new recipe that not only the hubby likes but both the kids! Not one but BOTH kids! Thank you so much. I used about a dozen drumsticks and double the sauce ingredients except for the sweet chilli as I was a little wary for the kids. This will be regular. just delicious with rice to mop up the awesome sauce and greens
Yum, Yum, Yum! Whole family raved about this. Definitely be cooking this again!
Thank you .
Love this recipe.
First tried it with a turkey hindquarter and was delicious.
Now it is also my latest fab chicken wing recipe when I make them for my nibblies.
So yummy and so cheap!!!! Made exactly as per recipe and then finished in the oven to crisp up for 10mins! Served with air fried chips and coleslaw! Hubby (who dislikes eating chicken with bones because it’s ‘annoying’) loved it!
Delicious! Every member of my family cleared their plate and declared that this is our new favourite chicken dish.
Made this last night for the family. Was a big hit, everyone absolutely loved it. So easy as well. Thanks for a great recipe
Delicious!!!
Great recipe for the whole family! My fussy little eaters (4 & 6 yrs) even asked for more!
I used boneless chicken thighs, cooked for 4 hours on low in the slow cooker. It was a bit runny so to thicken it up I used equal parts of cornflour and juices and cooked it through on the stove top. It will definitely be a regular meal in our house ?
Yum yum yum so easy taste Devine love the sauce it’s a favourite in my house now ?
Wow, i made this tonight for the first time tonight and it didn’t disappoint, the flavour is absolutely delish , even my fussy husband loved it
Is there a gluten free alternative for the kecap manis? Or should I just use regular GF soy?
I’m not sure as I don’t eat GF
The kecap manis is a thick, syrup like, sweeter version of soy if that helps you find an alternative
What can I say omg Paulene you have done it again, I cooked this last night and absolutely love it ? I’m going to cook it using chicken nibbles to serve with the Christmas lunch
Thanks again 5 stars
So good. We used chicken breast and cooked 2 hours high. No leftovers so safe to say it was a big hit
Made this for the family tonight, was yummo!
Only thing is was wondering if I did something wrong? There was a lot of runny liquid in the sauce and it didn’t come out glazed looking like the photo.
If I can’t find sweet soy sauce can I use regular soy sauce?
The sweet soy is more or a syrupy sweet version
Regular soy would be too salty
Can you use hot chilli sauce instead of the sweet chilli sauce
Darren sure can if you like that 🙂
Did this for dinner last night with stir fry vegetables.
Beautiful taste with lots of sauce
Ive made this a few times now, always a winner here. Serve wirh rice, broccolini & carrot. No leftovers.
This recipe is on my meal planner. Everyone loves it & I cook it regularly. I have chicken thighs & drumsticks marinating ready to cook tomorrow night but this (sorry Pauline) time I’m cooking them in the AF just to see how crispy the skin gets.
Made this again and it’s still a winner in our house. Such an easy recipe with such flavour.
Hi Paulene, one of our faves….absolutely delicious ? Just wondering if tripling the recipe would be pushing it or would I be best to do in 3 batches? Need to feed a large group and want to make this & freeze it! Thankyou 🙂
I think if it fits there’s no reason you couldn’t multiply it like that 🙂 However don’t do the cooking time x 3
Never been one for cooking Asian food but this recipe changed all of that.! Huge hit in our house served with homemade fried rice and steamed greens YUM??
What about boneless cuts? Would the cooking time still be the same?
3-4hrs for fillets
Can i use drumsticks?
Do i do same cooking time?
Yes you can – around 30mins less
Yum! Followed this super-easy recipe exactly, except I used boneless, skinless, thigh fillets. Regularly basted during cooking. I was able to fit 4 thigh fillets comfortably in my 1.5 litre slow cooker. Served with brown rice and steamed broccolini. Delicious meal!
had this for tea tonight it was so yummy wasn’t sure about the sweet chilli sauce thought would be hot but it wasn’t had it on rice
One of my all time favourite go to recipes, so tasty and everyone loves it.
Loved this chicken dish, will do again, so easy. Will be a family favourite in my house.
Easy and delicious!
This recipe is awesome. I could drink the sauce. Only thing I did differently was use boneless thighs.
This is the BOMB!!!! The colour of the chicken makes you drool before even trying it. Made exactly as per recipe and basted through cooking, we served it with fried rice. HIGHLH RECOMMEND!!!
Enjoyed by everyone! Will definitely do again.
Amazingly simple & tasty.
Served with rice & Pak Choi
One of my family’s all time favourites! Love this dish, often cook with stir fry rice and bok choy. Have doubled this and it worked really well when I had extended family over. Delicious and simple, packs in a lot of flavour.
Would this work with chicken breasts? And would cookimgvtome be the same?
Thanks!
2-3hrs if heaps for breast
Thinking of doing this tomorow, if i use 600 grams chicken breast would all other ingredients be the same? Thanks 🙂
Made this tonight for dinner for two – halved the recipe and put it on low for 4 hrs (5.7 ltr SC but could have done it for 3.5 hrs I think with boneless skinless chicken thighs). Thickened the sauce in the end with cornflour and served with shallots, broccoli and rice. Will try with bok choy next time!
Loved this!! I made a few modifications cos I’m a flavour girl… used fresh garlic and ginger and doubled amount and a splash of soy! With rice and greens, delicious ??
might try with chicken wings and drumettes, how long would it take please
Little wings like that, around 3-3.5hrs Rhonda
This is seriously delicious. I crisped it up in the airfryer for 5 minutes before serving. Do yourselves a favour and give it a go, you won’t be sorry.
Cooked this for the first time and it was Delish, I used boneless chicken thighs (skin off) Towards the end I added broccoli, snow peas, bok choy and some egg noodles, thickened with cornflour 1/2hr prior to dishing up. It was cooked in around
3 & 1/2 hours . Served on rice. Will def make it again! ?
Absolutely loved this recipe and I am fussy! I doubled the sauce but will triple next time.
A huge winner in our house! So easy, so delicious, will definitely cook again and again!
Such an easy versatile meal. Cooked many many times. The thigh cutlets get served for myself and the kids, grilled chicken breast with the sauce from the cutlets over it for my fussy hubby.
This is just so scrumptious really enjoyed it… I will do this again.
So yummy! I doubled the sauce because you can never have to much sauce! We had it with brown rice and broccolini….. it was just delicious ?
Hubby & I really enjoyed but next time I do need to thicken the sauce up a tad.
Trying this today for dinner tonight! Using skinless thigh fillets and fresh ginger and garlic!
How was it Lenny 🙂
Absolutely delicious!
I had 6 thighs in the freezer (I defrosted don’t worry) which I used with this meal tonight. I didn’t have minced ginger so I substituted for powdered ginger instead. I also decided to take the meat off the bone and do a little shredding as we have a large family and it make it go further. I cooked it for about 5 hours (not for any particular reason, just worked out that way).
Everyone loved it – will definitely be making again!
Thanks Paulene!
If I’m only using 4 chicken thigh cutlets would I halve the sauce ingredients?
I would just leave the rest as is Robin 🙂
Great Recipe! Made it with chicken thighs (that I cut up) and was perfect. The next time I did the same but doubled the sauce and added lots of veg then added it to rice. May not have looked pretty (veggie colour gets lost in dark sauce) but everyone loved the taste and it didn’t last long at all.
No matter which way you do it, that sauce is addictive!
The whole family loves this recipe! I use breast and it doesn’t need so long to cook. I shred it in the sauce and have it with rice and veg. Such an easy tea when you get to mid afternoon and don’t know what to have! ?
Loved the Sweet soy Asian chicken flavour. Chicken was ever so tender, I finished it in the air fryer the last 10 mins…wow! what flavour. Hubby wants this chicken on repeat served with fried rice. Never buying take put again.
Absolutely delicious. I marinated wings & drumsticks for a couple of hours first, cooked on low for 5hrs, then in the oven for about 20 minutes although I don’t really think it was necessary. Served with fried & rice & had big thumbs up from everyone. Super easy & will be on rotation in our house. Thanks
That’s awesome – thanks Tina!
Pauline posted the link to this on the FB page and I thought I’d give it a go as it sounded yum. Was not disappointed, this was so easy to cook and super yummy. I served with rice and veg (put microwaved bag of steamed veg in with rice). This has been added to my favourite list ❤️
