Sausage Sensation

Sausage Sensation

February 13, 2015

  • Prep: 5 mins
  • Cook: 6 hrs
  • Yields: 2 meals of 5-6 people

*Note* This recipe is for a double batch - I serve one and freeze the other.

24 thin beef sausages

2 small onions diced

1 x 415g can condensed tomato soup

4 cloves garlic minced

2 tsp mustard powder

1/2 cup BBQ sauce

100g diced bacon

Cracked black pepper to taste

1Place sausages into slow cooker raw

2Add onion and bacon

3Combine other ingredients and pour over sausages

4Cook on low 6hrs - recipe will tolerate longer cooking times if you need it.

5*Optional* Some slow cookers that cook 'hotter' may benefit from a cup or even 2 cups of water added during cooking process to maintain the saucy finish. Just check as you go along and if drying out, you can chose to add water.

6*Approximate cost $10 - so a very cheap meal x 2 for families

I would not recommend using already cooked tin sausages for this one

Just wondered if this can be made with the hot dog sausages in a tin?

So yummy! Mister 3 wanted seconds which he never does so its a winner in my eyes, we served with mash, mixed veg and broccoli/cauliflower bake.

Only used about half the amount of sausages and turned out perfectly. Lots of favour but still mild enough for a little one to eat. Will be making again 👍

My kids love this and ask for it often. Even my autistic daughter who has food issues loves this recipe.

I’ve served it with a number of different things including mashed potato, rice and salad.

Delicious! We used a lot less sausages (about 800g – very thick), and added ~200g of sliced mushrooms to the mix (added on top with the onion and bacon). The sauce was thick, and a fantastic partner to the soft-cooked sausages. We will definitely be making this one again!
