I made this yesterday, using 1.4 kg of chicken drumsticks. I also added a tsp. of minced ginger. 6 hours on low was perfect, and I thickened the sauce at the end by stirring in a mix of 2 TBSP of cold water and 1 TBSP of corn starch, and turned to high for 15 minutes. I have supper for 2 days, and I froze 2 containers for future meals. My first time using drumsticks, and this recipe is a keeper for sure!!
Very, very tasty.
I used 1.6 kilos of chicken drumstick, so I increased all the other ingredients by half again. My slow cooker cooks a bit hotter, so next time I will reduce the cooking time as the chicken was a little bit dry. The meat just fell off the bones.
Will definitely make this again, though.
Could you used minced garlic and tomato sauce as I don’t have ketchup in my pantry and can u cook on auto to cut down cooking time
Sure can use minced garlic and yes I mean tomato sauce anyway 🙂
Give it around 4hrs on auto
My husband and I just loved this meal….so easy to do and ever so tasty. Will definitely do again.
Beautiful flavours. I used wings and it was delicious and meat so tender
Very yummy recipe! I used 1.2kg chicken thigh added cracked pepper and a sprinkle of onion flakes, cooked on low for a little over 4 hours and served with sc fried rice. Delicious dinner, thanks for the recipe Paulene Christie 🙂
Absolutely beautiful and also very easy. We added rinsed and dried hokkien noodles for 30 mins which made it gorgeous and fixed the tininess. A definite do again
Yum! Was really good, will definitely become a regular meal through winter.
My daughter even asked for another piece so that’s a huge win!
This was absolutely yummy I didn’t tweak the recipe in anyway
This is a recipe I’ll make again delicious
Was so yummy..big hit with all the family
Can I jut check………do you mean ketchup as in what you would put on a burger/dip fries in? It’s just I notice further down in the comments you say you meant tomato sauce . I’m in UK so just wanting to double check I’m not confusing ingredients before I start, haha.
Yes that kind of ketchup .. we just call that tomato sauce here in Australia 🙂
Can I put it in a dump bag.
I don’t see why not 🙂
This was really yum, I used whole thigh fillets and then broke them down to smaller pieces once cooked. Served with fried rice.
Can you double this mix?
You’d be able to double the chicken and still have enough sauce/liquid 🙂
Could this be used with breast or leftover roast chicken?
Thanks
While I wouldn’t use already cooked chicken, you could use breast. But only give breast around 3-3.5hrs as it tends to dry out over longer periods 🙂
We had this for dinner tonight. I used thigh fillets. It was absolutely delicious.
