Fluffy puff pastry scrolls with a vegemite and cheese filling! Uses ready made pastry for less fuss, less mess and tasty result guaranteed!
Serving: 9
Ingredients
- Per 1 sheet of frozen ready made puff pastry you'll also need
- 2 tbsp vegemite
- 1 cup of grated tasty cheese
- (muliply the above by however many sheets you want to make with)
- Baking paper and non stick spray
Instructions
- Cover bottom of slow cooker with baking paper and a LIGHT spray of non stick spray
- Lay out one sheet of frozen puff pastry on your bench to work with
- Spread with 2 tbsp of vegemite
- Cover with 1 cup of grated cheese
- (Do as many of these as you want - I found 2 sheets worth filled the bottom of my slow cooker - each sheet makes 9 small scrolls)
- By the end of this process the pastry should be soft enough to work with
- Starting from one end of the pastry square roll up into a fairly tight log
- Take a sharp knife and cut the log into slices (approx 9 per log)
- Place the slices on the baking paper in the slow cooker
- Cook with The Tea Towel Trick
- I cooked mine in a 7L Breville
- Cook on HIGH for 1hr
- Flip them over, then cook on HIGH for a further 30mins
- Total cooking time 1hr 30mins
- I used cheap supermarket brand pastry - you don't have to spend a lot to enjoy these treats 🙂

My 3 boys love these in their lunch boxes. They freeze well too.
Unfortunately mine didn’t cook through, even after 1 and a half hours. Maybe my puff pastry was too old and had lost it’s ‘puff’. Cooked in my Crockpot multi cooker on high ?
Sorry to hear that Sandra. Do you have a real slow cooker you can try them in next time? Multi cookers can be unreliable as actual slow cookers as they are really more suited to pressure cooking :/
Hi Paulene, yes I do have a Crockpot 5 litre slow cooker. Will try the scrolls in this next time! ?
Hi Pauline, Just wondering if I should preheat the slow cooker for this recipe? I have never done that before but my scrolls took 2-1/2 hours to cook. I used my Breville 6L. Thanks.
I never preheat – though different slow cookers can vary in heat/speed so take not for this one the time yours took so you’ll know for next time 🙂
They were great! I finished them off in the oven to crisp up.
