Wow, what a yum soup. Instead of mince, I used diced oyster blade steak, and it was like having a Campbell’s Chunky Soup. So full of flavor but with less salt. I am very glad to have another soup recipe. I was getting sick of having the same old pumpkin or chicken soup.
Thanks, Sarah Seddon, for sharing your recipe.
How much beef broth do you use?
They have specified enough to cover 🙂
Making this right now and smells divine and delicious add a little extra garlic and some other veg .crusty bread to be served on side
Can you please tell me what size tin of tomatoes? Thank you
400g
Hi for how much beef broth I made enough to cover all ingredients, you can always add more later if you need to.
Amy I just used 400g of chopped tomatoes.
Yum, yum, yum! Best beef soup recipe, its a real warmer! Whole family loved it.
Am cooking this tomorrow. Every recipe has been amazing. You have made our dinners top notch. Thank you, so appreciated.
Making this right now, using rump hopefully it will work out , can not wait ?
How was it Jacinta 🙂
Where can I get beef broth from? Thanks
You can use liquid stock or make it up from powder stock or stock cubes 🙂
What sort of beef would be best to use for this?
I’d use any full flavoured beer that you’d enjoy drinking 🙂
Made this a couple of times now, had forgotten how good barley is! Both times used blade steak and was so tender!
I substituted sweet potato for white potatoes, added swede and what a winner, more of a stew than soup is my preference so don’t add extra liquid
Yummm
oh my giddy aunt….tasted amazing, my son (22) went back for 2nds and inhaled it both times, and said “I’m taking this for lunch tomorrow”
Fantastic recipe!
I doubled everything apart from the mince and it went VERY far!
Thanks!!!

First time making this recipe. Hubby went back for seconds. He gave it a 10/10. Full of deliciousness.
I used gravy beef for good rich flavour. And cooked in my Sunbeam 5.5L sc. cooked it on low for 8 hours.
