I’m going to rate this recipe as a 5! It is SO easy. Made fudge yesterday for the first time and it is a whopping success. I used the Basic recipe and at the end, before putting in a pan, stirred in raisins and almonds. This fudge is so delicious I might want to eat it all, but it’s so rich I can only eat one piece! I highly recommend this recipe.
This recipe is fantastic and so versatile. I used this as a base and made a variety of fudges; some with chopped red frogs in the mix, others topped with popping candies, chopped nuts and others just plain and topped with choc hearts. They were all such a hit! This recipe was perfect for my 1.5 litre, and I also did a double batch in my 3 litre. Will definitely make again and again.
Tried this today. Did mine on high in my old 6.5l Crock pot. Took about 45 mins to come together.
Turned out lovely! Going to add Rice Krispies to next batch and then experiment with flavours and toppings a bit in future.
Yummy! Works perfectly every time! We love experimenting with different flavors and additions 🙂
So easy and delicious! I had to stop myself from eating it all as I cut it up. Mine took about 2 hours to cook.
Absolutely simple and easy fudge to make and enjoy ? I especially love that it can be used as a base to create any type of fudge you want ? I use this recipe regularly when creating new fudges, thanks so much for sharing this with us Paulene Christie ?
Mine is too soft even after over night in the fridge any ideas?
You can always remelt it back in and add extra chocolate to fix that 🙂
Especially if original choc had soft filling or bits in the choc it can reduce the overall choc volume so extra helps overcome this
Just wondering, what size pan you’d use please?
I use a 20cm x 20cm tin
You can use any size, bigger will just mean fudge is thinner
Hi i am making this for the first time just wondering what temperature for my 6 litre slow cooker please.
Low
Have made this many times and added in whatever flavours I wanted. It’s a fantastic basic recipe for fudge. Thank you ??
I have the crock pot on right now and am wondering (due to peoples variations in cooking time) how to tell when it is ready??? Sorry I am a first timer and don’t want to overcook it. Thanks
I find mine is done around 1hr 15 mins in the 1.5L cookers. Look for a really light skin that forms over it. when you push a spoon through it the surface kind of wrinkles 🙂 That’s a sign it’s done. More info here FUDGE FAQS
How long does this fudge keep for? Just wondering how far in advance I can make it?
Thanks
Weeks in the fridge, months in the freezer 🙂

Made fudge for the first time using this recipe. Absolutely delicious & not too sweet with a great chocolate taste.
I made redskin fudge by adding a bag of redskins. I also made jersey caramel fudge.
The best recipe for fudge! So easy I could do it in my sleep! The possibilities are endless.
I make one called surprise fudge. After Easter or Xmas I empty out the fridge of whatever random chocolates we have, weigh it up, add plain chocolate up to the required weight, then away we go! Every bite is a surprise flavour Haha
Can not get over just how easy it is to make fudge that tastes better than the stuff you buy (generally at great expense! ?) … I have made it several times now over the last 12 months (Xmas special in our house) and LOVE all the different variations I’ve tried so far. After having one “near failure” (seemed a bit “grainy”) the first time – I now beat it with my electric beaters for a few seconds (in the slow cooker bowl) once the fudge is done and it comes out perfectly smooth and yummy!! THANKS Pauline … so many amazing recipes throughout the site!! ??
