Banana-Berry Loaf

A sweet fruity crockpot cake or dessert with the family friendly flavours of strawberry and banana!
So tasty and so easy to slow cook!

  • Prep: 15 mins
  • Cook: 1 hr 20 mins
  • Yields: 1 loaf cake


2 cups of SR flour (I use wholemeal flour but you can use white if you prefer)

2 eggs

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/3 cup oil

1/3 cup sugar

1 x 250g punnet of fresh strawberries

1 large rip banana


1Combine flour, eggs, cinnamon, oil and sugar in a large mixing bowl and mix well

2Wash and tip the strawberries

3Using a stick blender or food processor, blend strawberries and sliced banana well

4Add blended fruit to cake mix and combine well

5Make a shallow water bath (1-2cm) in the base of your slow cooker.

6I use a silicone loaf tin with a spritz of oil. You can line it with baking paper if you prefer.

7Pour cake mix into loaf tin

8Cook on HIGH for 1hr 20minutes with the TEA TOWEL TRICK in place (you can search tea towel on our blogs tab to read all about how this works)

9Test with a skewer inserted into cake that it comes out clean to know it's done as some cookers may vary in cooking times and it may appear moister on top then it is inside.

10Cool on rack then enjoy a thick slice on it's on, spread with butter, or serve warm with ice cream as a dessert if you rather 🙂

11Great for lunchboxes or served with a cup of tea.

12My 11 year old son helped to create and cook this cake today so it's easy enough for your children to be involved in helping you cook too if you like 🙂

13My cooking times were based on a 7L Breville slow cooker

This is a good recipe and reasonably healthy! I used frozen (defrosted) blackberries instead of raspberries, and also used half yoghurt to replace oil. I also browned it in the oven after cooking in the SC.

This is a beautiful loaf. Although I may cool it in tin a little longer in the hope that the middle stays firmer. Didn’t collapse just sank a touch in the middle. The taste is amazing.

Made this today and absolutely delish. I added a dash of milk cause it looked a tad dry. And didnt add strawberries and I just cooked it in the cooker not in a tin.
Couldn’t wait to have some so had it warm wirh a coffee. Couldn’t get any better.

Did this today, we are really eenjoying it. Served warm with some cream and some strawberry jam for dessert. Took about 3 hours in my SC but my cake/loaves usually do.
