  • 1.5kg Chicken Pieces
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce - I used low sodium soy sauce

  • Place chicken in slow cooker
  • Combine all other ingredients and pour over the chicken
  • Cook on low for 5hrs

Notes

  • Served with salad or vegetables
  • I used thigh cutlets for this recipe but other cuts such as wings or drumsticks would be just as good
  • Cooked in a 6L slow cooker
  • Brown chicken before cooking if you choose to but I don't do so

  1. Chicken was tender and delicious. A little too sweet for us, so next time will half the brown sugar and honey.

Did this last week. Didn’t use sugar because of honey in recipe. Tasted delicious, very similar to Ken Homs Master Sauce but cheaper. Will be doing again.

Was unsure of taste with so much vinegar BUT loved the taste once cooked.
    Definitely a keeper.

Made this last night and was a massive hit with the family. May cook a little less time tho as my slow cooker cooks hotter. Saved the sauce for later stage. Cant wait to make again!!

  5. The balsamic was a bit over powering for my kids, but myself and my husband enjoyed it.

  6. The balsamic flavour was a little to overpowering for our taste buds, but in saying that it did taste good.

  9. This was so delicious! The entire family including two toddlers gobbled it up! Will definitely be in our rotation now ! Thanks !

  10. It’s a winner! I added carrot and cauliflower to the dish and then greens for the last half hour. I also cooked up rice but with the vegetables in the dish there was no need for rice.. we all loved it and will definitely make it again.

You sure can – thigh fillets are best Jennifer 🙂 I’d give them around 4-5hrs low

We had this last night, I used thigh cutlets and only used 1/4 cup of sugar, the smell was amazing whilst cooking, I stirred through some frozen vegetables and heated up a sachet of microwave rice, and easy Friday night meal.

This was really tasty. Used thigh fillets as I had them to hand. Cooked on low for under 5 hours. I didn’t use any brown sugar (my error) but we didn’t miss it. We often have soy, honey, ginger, garlic as a marinade, but I like the inclusion of balsamic vinegar. Much deeper flavour. I will do it again. Thank you, Paulene.
