  1. Sadly had to use a different cut of meat but still was great and simply thank you

  2. Made this tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Very moist and tender. Made a gravy with the juices too. Thank you for posting!

  3. How does the meat turn out with this length of cooking? As in medium, well-done etc? And would it dry out if I gave it more like 8 hours?

Cooked through medium-well I guess you would say 🙂
A nice large piece would tolerate longer cooking time well

  4. Did it as a 2kg piece so I had plenty for left overs for sandwiches. The BEST, most moist, roast beef I’ve ever made. Thickened the gravy on the stove and it was so rich. OMG yummy. Thank you for the recipe Simon.

  5. Love this recipe. It has become my ‘go to’ whenever I cook roast beef. Simple, tasty, moist & delicious.

Cooked this today first time very simple recipe.
Thought I had purchased blade roast but it was 3x individual pieces. I turned the meats 2hrs into cooking & basted every 1hr after – cooked 5hr low, 1hr high. Meat turned out lovely & tender served with roast vegetables, steamed corn cobs & green beans! ??

It can be but you get a far better tender result from cooking it low and slow 🙂

This recipe is delicious, tender and so full of flavour.
My husband is not a big fan of roast beef but this recipe has changed his mind

For a large one this size I’d give it all day long, like 9-10hrs

  8. The Worchester sauce mix seems really overpowering, is it meant to be that way?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central July 27, 2019

We don’t find it that way and I’ve not heard anyone else say that? Maybe next time reduce it though for sure if that suits your tastes better 🙂

Absolutely fantastic and delicious dish. Even my very fussy kids ate it all. Will definitely be making this again and again

Sorry might sound like a strange question but does it taste like a roast or a stew type meat
    Please

  12. Question, has anyone cooked it without searing /browning/ sealing the meat first? If so, did it still turn out nice?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central November 17, 2021

I always do it without searing – it’s still perfectly amazing 🙂

  13. So tender, definitely on our favourite list now. Added cornflour to liquid after meat removed, very tasty gravy.

I used a piece of beef already marinated in garlic & red wine I followed this recipe same but reduced the garlic component. I sliced it & we had roast beef & gravy rolls. Beef was so tender!
This is a great go-to recipe.

Made this last night for the first time. My slow cooker doesn’t sear so seared in a fry pan. Added onions to the bottom of the slow cooker & sat the meat on top. Added a bit of garlic & the mustard into the sauce as well & it came out perfect. Nice & tender. Husband approved so thats a win

I liked the taste of this recipe my meat was just a tiny bit dry but I didn’t leave it to my partner to turn off so could have been a little longer then 6 hours but over all was a good recipe and we liked it very much even had left overs on sandwiches the next day

Definitely keep the times to the minimum where you can to avoid any drying out Lauren 🙂
