What syrup do u use as well as the golden syrup stated first on the ingredients list ?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central May 3, 2018

That one is just a heading for the syrup ingredients below it 🙂

  7. These were delicious, might mash banana in the dumpling mixture next time like Shays comment, cos I found them a bit stogy and floury . But the flavour of them was delish and the syrup was to die for

Delicious, easy and a family fave. Make it at home and out camping. Such a lovely dessert to make.

Regular thickened cream it’s called in Australia. A pourable type of cream that you could whip or just use poured

Wow! This is delicious! I used gluten free SR flour so the whole family could enjoy it too. And I used the tea towel trick. I’ll definitely make this one again!!!

  10. Great recipe, worked really well.
Used a dark caster sugar as it was all I had, the sauce was really dark and was kinda toffee flavoured. I also used lactose free cream instead of regular

  11. Are the quantities of this recipe ok for the small 1.5L slow cooker or should it be in bigger?

  12. What a yummy recipe!!
I made it last night and a definite hit.
The recipe doesn’t specify size of slow cooker so I made it in a 3L bowl. I would use my 5.5L next time as the dumplings stuck together and it turned out like a self saucing pudding.
I used a small ice cream scoop to shape the dumplings and used a tea towel for cooking.
It comfortably served 5 adults with leftovers for breakfast. Winning ?

  13. Absolutely delicious, massive hit in my household they all loved these. Made a few times now and each time I get the double thumbs up from everyone.

Please can someone tell me if this recipe is too much for the small 1.5 L slow cooker?
Would like to make tonight, but I’m cooking pickled pork in my 3L cooker thanks everyone

  16. Made for the first time tonight. Found them a bit doughy. Would that be because I didn’t use tea towel under lid?

  17. Can someone please reply to these questions : 1 WHY DOES IT TASTE DOUGHY TO SOME PEOPLE ??
2: DO YOU HAVE TO ADD THE LEMONADE ??
: 3 WHY THE TEA TOWEL & IS THE TEA TOWEL WET/ OR DRY ??

Question please ; can this recipe be doubled/tripled please ?

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central May 21, 2024

I don’t see why not in theory Karen, but the limit will be how many you can fit because they need to be able to expand and not layer up on top of each other so I can’t imagine a lot more fitting

Made in 1.5L slow cooker. Halved the recipe. Turned out amazing. Sweet and comforting. Served with icecream.

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central June 5, 2025

That’s awesome to hear – thanks Wendy 🙂
Did you have to adjust the cook time in for that?

Zero fuss, maximum comfort, no control 😍
SR flour, cream, and lemonade somehow transform into soft, pillowy dumplings soaking up that sweet, sticky syrup like absolute champions. Set it and forget it—then come back to a rich, cozy dessert that tastes like pure indulgence. They don’t just hit the spot—they take over the whole show.

Made them for dessert tonight and everyone loved them , will definitely be a go to for dessert in the future especially now the weather is cooling down ❤️

Made these last night, with a couple of changes. Used lactose free cream, no tea towel under the lid, in my 5.5 litre Breville, didn’t roll the dumplings into balls just dropped the mix into the syrup off the spoon.
Cooked on high for 90 minutes, dumplings were perfect. Next time I will increase the amount of syrup by at least 50% – I think the bigger cooking surface needs more liquid for that amount of cooking time
