Serving: 4
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 2 hours
Total Time 2 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup Hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup Sweet Chilli sauce
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 5-6 drops of Sesame oil
  • 4 cloves of crushed garlic

Instructions

  • Mix all sauce ingredients together in a jug or bowl to combine.
  • Place whole chicken breasts in a single layer in your slowcooker.
  • Pour sauce over the chicken.
  • Cook on low for 4 hours.
  • Once cooked, slice the chicken to serve, and pour over as much or as little sauce you like.
  • You could serve it on a bed of any type of rice or noodles you prefer, and any salad or veg you like.
  • Please note....as every slow cooker cooks differently, you may find you need to adjust cook time. I used my Breville 7 litre slow cooker , which seems to cook quite hot, for only 2hrs cook time
  • Hope you enjoy!

Such a brilliantly simple, yet absolutely delicious meal ?? Thanks so much for sharing this with us Di ? It will definitely stay on rotation in our family fave meals for sure! I served ours with the fried rice 2 recipe on the site and left the breast fillets whole. So, so yummy ?????

I would assume it’s regular if it’s not specified as Kecap Manis sweet soy but I’ll ask Di to be sure 🙂

Verdict of my dinner last night: What an easy weekend dinner for the family ??

They only took around 2.5hrs on low in my 7L Breville

So easy to serve with some oriental rice ?

The kids all enjoyed it too ??
Thanks Di for your easy recipe ?

    ????????????

  7. Yum, Loved this! I halved all the ingredients as it was only for 2 adults, and cooked for 3 hours in my 3.5L Russell Hobbs. I served it with a green salad and found the sauce worked really nice on the salad too. My daughter wasn’t a fan because she found it too spicy but she won’t eat anything with even a slight amount of spice. I myself don’t like spicy foods and didn’t really find it too spicy at all. Will definitely be making this again..

Super simple to make and tasted great. Will definitely make this again

  9. I realized this is Rather old now but do you think it would work without of the sweet chili sauce? Is there something to replace it? I really don’t like sweet chilli sauce.

  10. This was so tasty & very easy to make. We had it for one of our Chinese New Year meals & I’ll be making again.

  11. This is so easy and yum. Made last night with the following amendments:
    1. 1.5kg of chicken thigh fillets
    2. Did not increase sauce
    3. Left out water
    4. Cooked for 5 hrs on low
    5. In last half hour threw in a full pkt of dry pad Thai rice noodles
The noodles soaked up the liquid perfectly so the flavour wasn’t lost. Made 8 serves. Will definitely cook again.

  12. Really wasnt a fan of this recipe, I soo wanted to love it as the reviews looked amazing. I followed the recipe exactly and just wasnt that great, Chicken was very moist but tasted a bit to salty and the flavour wasn’t amazing. Very simple and cheap recipe and easy to make just wasnt a hit for us and our taste

Cooked this receipe a few nights ago and it was a huge hit for this family of 6 with some fussy eaters.

We stir fried some veggies, and cooked noodles to complete the dish.
Prep time was literally 10mins for everything.

I’ve just put it on again for tonight’s dinner.
Will become a family favourite especially on those nights we need something quick and easy.

Well WOW. Who needs to go to a Chinese Restaurant !! This was so delicious. I added some sliced carrot & green beans. I would probably use chicken thigh next time, because the breasts were slightly dry even after 1 hour.
I also added a few dim sims to the juice. Mmm. Served it on rice. 🫶🏼
Thank you for this fabulous recipe. It hardly gets better than this.

Another great recipe on regular rotation in our house. So nice and makes plenty of leftovers for salads or sandwiches. I also add half a teaspoon of Chinese 5 spice powder into the mix.
