Serving: 4
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 5 hours
Total Time 5 hours 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 500g peeled raw prawns
  • 300ml cooking cream
  • 1 block philadelphia cream cheese roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup of white wine (or chicken stock)
  • Salt pepper and rosemary to taste
  • 4 large teaspoons of minced garlic (or to taste)
  • 4 button mushrooms sliced

Instructions

  • Put all ingredients except mushroom into slow cooker. Put less garlic than you may need to avoid over flavouring to your taste. Garlic can be easily added later.
  • Slow cook on low for 4-6 hours.
  • In last hour add mushroom. At this time check if there is enough garlic to tour taste.
  • Serve with your choice of side, I used pasta.

Notes

  • Ensure prawns are adequately peeled and deveined.
  • Stirring is not vital but may help breakdown the cream cheese during cooking.
  • Other optional inclusions:
  • - Bacon
  • - Vegies
  • - Other herbs and spices to your taste

Right near the end for cooked
Just enough time to heat through

I cooked this on Low for 4 hours and over cooked it the prawns were all soft and mushy might try this again but no were near as long

I halved the ingredients and cooked in the 1.5L slow cooker for 2 hours on low. I loved it but next time may do for 1.5 hours as the prawns were a little over cooked. Made for one person but would defin5be enough for 2 adult serves.

Can I add pasta at the same time as mushrooms

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central

The last hour would be enough time to cook the pasta but it needs extra liquid to allow for that or it will suck all the moisture out of your dish
Best to serve with cooked pasta 🙂

It’s watery and overcooked at 2 hours on low?

Way to much sauce and on low is cooked in around 2 hours.. if using precooked prawns, cook the sauce, then add the prawns with just enough time to heat them or they shrink and lose their flavour.. if using frozen prawns defrost first and drain excess water.

I added Gnocchi into mine and it was yummy.

I cooked this a few days ago. The sauce was to die for however the prawns came out very mushy after being in the cooker for five hours. Next time I will put the prawns in with the mushrooms

After reading reviews I only cooked 2 hours in total and added raw prawns 15 minutes at the end. Yummo!

This is a very easy recipe for all things creamy. I make this often, sometimes add a little curry powder as well.

Great recipe i cooked this for 2. Fussy male actually ate it all which surprised me.. I thought he would complain of its creamy texture but he said it was good . Next time i will make it with alot more prawns (we love them) and i will cut back on the cream cheese a bit. This is great recipe to cook for the family who love seafood.

Sounds like a real hit with your house’s fussy one! We love prawns too! 🙂

I made this dish tonight using cooked garlic prawns from the deli and added them near the end of the cooking time, just enough time to heat them through. Delicious. I sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. I will definitely be making it again.

So happy you enjoyed it Coral! 🙂
