Rissoles in a Tasty Tomato Gravy
Beef rissoles slow cooked in a rich tomato gravy. Beautiful served with potato mash and steamed vegetables.
Equipment
- 5L slow cooker
Ingredients
- 16 beef rissoles (see note)
- 420 mls tomato soup condensed (nothing added to it)
- 1 tsp Curry powder – I use Keen's brand
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/3 cup Fruit chutney – I use Rosella brand
- 2 tbsp dry gravy powder – I use Maggi Rich gravy
- 1/2 punnet of solanato tomatoes, sliced. (approx 100gm) – These are little grape shaped mini tomatoes the size of cherry tomatoes. You could also use cherry tomatoes instead.
Instructions
- Add raw rissoles to slow cooker.
- Combine all other ingredients (except tomatoes) and pour over rissoles
- Scatter tomatoes on top.
- Cook on low for 5hrs.
- Beautiful served with potato mash and steamed vegetables.
- Notes: For any international members who may note be familiar with a rissole, think of large, slightly flattened meatballs made from minced beef. This recipe would also work with meatballs, just reduce to 4hrs. I used ready made rissoles (2 trays of 8). However if you prefer you could certainly make your own favourite home made version then proceed with the recipe after that. For smaller families you could also half the number of rissoles to 8 to serve 4 (then save the extra yummy gravy for another meal the next night)

this was amazing.. I had no fruit chutney so used home made tomato relish instead
will definitely be making this again
Hubby and daughter loved it, a little rich for me but still yummy. Daughter is telling to cook it again
Wonderful rich sauce, we made ours with beef and pork meatballs from Coles and they came out tender and tasty. This will be on regular rotation as it’s easy to prepare and tastes amazing
OOHHMMYY goodness first time sc this beauty.
Full of deliciousness. Hubby said YUMMO 🤤 giving it a 12/10 for flavour. I didn’t have any rissoles but had 2 bbq steaks that I wanted to use up. So I used them.
Sc in my Westinghouse 3.5L for just 4 hours on low.
NOTE: I added 1 teaspoon dried thyme.
And 1 sliced onion.
Thank you 🙏 Pauline for such a delicious 🤤 easy recipe

Tried this recipe for the first time last week. EVERYONE LOVED IT. The sauce is to die for. Aldi had garlic and chilli meatballs on special so they complimented this perfectly! Now on regular rotation
I made this with lamb chops and it worked so well. My whole family loved it. Will definitely be putting it into regular rotation.
how long did you cook for using lamb chops please?
If using lamb chops I’d suggest around 5hrs low
Made this recipe tonight – yummy.
Made it with Cole’s pre-made meatballs and served with mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes and mixed vegetables.
Could’ve licked the plate clean it was sooooo tasty. Will definitely make it again.
So easy to make, kitchen smelled great! Didn’t need to thicken the gravy. Next time I will use only 12 pre-made supermarket rissoles. Will definitely do this one again!
Full of flavour.
Left out the fruit chutney as didn’t have any on hand.
Served the rissoles with baked potatoes, pumpkin and carrots.
Cooked this for dinner and it was soo easy and the flavours fantastic. Will definitely be cooking again
Awesome! Thanks so much for leaving your feedback Norma 🙂 🙂
Made this today. I used the 390 ml of condensed tomato soup from Rosella and their fruit chutney as well. I also grated some carrot and zucchini, sliced an onion and added that to the sauce.
Husband said put this on rotation please, it was delicious. 10/10 from us ❤️
Sounds like it got the stamp of approval Wilma – Well done!!!
Wow!!! Such a simple but delicious dinner.
I didn’t use tomato soup but replaced with tomato ketchup and fruit Chutney. Rest of recipe was the same. Will be on repeat 🙏❤️🏆
That’s so great to hear Maria! Thanks for always taking a moment to leave your feedback also – we really appreciate it 🙂
Delicious! Made using a pear and ginger chutney. Added a sliced onion on top. I think this recipe would work with lots of different beef cuts or sausages.
Thanks for the awesome 5 STAR rating Jessica 🙂
I agree it would be lovely with sausages!
onther out standing meal so easy to cook so delicious keep them coming i love your work 😋
Thanks Matthew! 🙂
i tried this for the first time tonight and it was so yummy, i was sceptical at first because of the fruit chutney – because yuck! but it worked really well in this recipe. i will definitely be making this again maybe with chicken tenderloins and i also want to try with chipolata sausages.
When someone expects “yuck” and then they give it 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating
Love this ❤ Debbie 🙂
Rissoles in tasty tomato gravy are basically the comfort food equivalent of a warm hug… that also bench-presses flavour. 🍅💪
Served it mashed potato and pumpkin and steamed mixed veg and suddenly you’re not just having dinner, you’re having a moment. 10/10 would mop the plate with bread and pretend I have no shame.
How I love the way you write feedback Meagan!! Hahaha have given me huge smiles today 🙂 🙂
We had this last night and we loved it. Hubby said “don’t throw that sauce out, I want to mop it up with a slice of bread “
Definitely a winner in our house.
Thanks for leaving the fab review Margaret! Really appreciate it 🙂 🙂
