  1. I made this for the first time yesterday and it was absolutely yummy.. Had it again today as not sure if u can freeze it ok given the cheese and sour cream. Definately going to be one of my favourites ?

  2. Have my first try cooking now. Wasn’t meant to be home but have sick child. Reminds me why slow cooking does it’s thing while you’re at work coz seriously the smell is amazing and hard to not try before done lol

  3. Does it matter if it cooks for longer as I work full time and I Pty it on in the morning it is at least 10 hrs before I get back I want to use my slow cooker more but most recipes I find cook for 6 – 8 hours

Michelle I’m not sure about 10hrs. I generally use my Crockpot 3.5L for this as it cooks slower but even then I think 8/8.5hrs might be it’s limit.
Depending on your slow cooker it could even take less time.

  5. I have been looking for a beautiful beef stroganoff recipe for years and finally found it! Absolutely delicious!

Sounds delicious so will have to try. Can you make large portions and freeze?

  7. Felicity Barnett July 18, 2017

Sure could Catherine. I just had some that I froze for lunches and it was great 🙂

This stroganoff was absolutely delicious! The meat melted in the mouth and the flavour was lovely. It was so nice that we ate too much and ended up with stomach aches…lol. The leftovers are in the freezer for another night and I know this will be a regular recipe to make. Thank you for sharing this great recipe 🙂

Divine, I have been making stroganoff for years and this is the best I have made. It has delish flavour and the meat is juicy. Love the spinach too.

I love love love love this recipe. I’ve made it multiple times now and it’s ALWAYS turned out great. So much creaminess how could it not..? 😀 Just divine. Favourite recipe on this site 100%

  11. Has anyone experienced the sour cream splitting because its added so early? Want to try this recipe, just scared of ruining it!

  12. This was delicious, my family loved it. Thank you for sharing your recipe Felicity. I also add uncooked fettuccine at the last half hour and it turned out perfectly ??????

  13. We love love this recipe even my children love it it’s on our fortnightly meal planner as a must have

  14. I found it pretty bland. I’m not sure what could be done to add some flavour. I used more than the specified amounts of garlic & pepper, plus I added some chilli and it was still lacking something. 850g of mushrooms is a lot. I struggled to fit it all in my slowcooker. I had to add about 1/2 the mushrooms during the cooking process, once the first half had cooked and reduced in size.

  15. Had this tonight and it was delicious! I was concerned at the start, the sour cream seemed to split and at the end I wasn’t sure if my cream cheese was going to melt and blend properly. All worked out fine though and everyone enjoyed it

  16. It was absolutely srumptious.
We will definitely be making it again. The family loved it. The meat was very tender. I just wisked the cream cheese in right at the end to blend it all together.
    Served it with brown rice

  17. Yum, yum, yum! Another BIG favourite in our household. Made at least weekly. Have used beef and chicken. Next time I’ll try pork I think ?

  18. 5 stars
I was looking for a stroganoff recipe with paprika and sour cream as a true stroganoff should have both and came across this recipe.
Lovely recipe. Was a hit with everyone, the bowl was scraped clean!
( Variation I used vwmison and only 500g mushrooms and half a cup of philadelphia and frozen spinach)
    Thanks Felicity!

Made this today for the first time. I had less mushrooms so I added a can of condensed mushroom soup. Omitting the cornflour. Also as we love it I added loads more garlic…
    Otherwise sticking to the recipe.
    Absolutely delicious!
With lots left over. I added peas afterwards.
    10/10
