A really fab recipe, for a first timer the whole family said yum!

  2. Bronwyn Mills August 27, 2016

This was very yummy! I did add 2 more tablespoons each of the worchestershire & tomato sauces, another garlic clove, only 300ml cream and I used diced beef. The meat was very tender and the sauce delicious. I am making it again next week!!!

  3. I used oyster blade steak and you could cut it with a spoon. Served over mashed potato. So yummy!

This was really nice and simple. I didn’t brown the meat, but left it for 5 hours. My sauce didn’t look amazing, as I only had normal cream so it was a little unappealing to look at, but it was delicious. As per other comments, the meat was so soft you hardly needed a knife. Will definitely try again, next time with cooking cream.

  5. Loved it in this house. Added extra garlic, quite a bit only because we love garlic. Also used a bit more cream. I added a little cornflour at the end to thicken the sauce at the end. I made a couple of extra meals for the freezer for work when we are on the back shifts. Then saved the extra sauce for later in the week to go on snitzels (Hubbys idea)

  6. Made this tonight, it was delish! I usually make it on the stove top but I wanted the meat to be tender, it def was! I also added more garlic and hot sauce. I used a tea towel under the lid to stop the condensation ruining it, I had it on high for 3hrs and then took the lid off for half hour afterwards so the sauce could thicken.

So yummy. Definitely on the rotation. Thickened sauce at the find with cornflour. Big thumbs up.

  8. Probably a silly question…. Does T stand for tablespoons or teaspoon?

    Hi All,
I want to do this sauce without putting the meat into the slowcooker. I wasn’t happy with the meat but loved the sauce. What changes, if any, should I make to the sauce ? (I’m thinking the meat must add some flavour to the sauce. Is this correct ?

My youngest son, Mr Fussy, and I liked this recipe. It had a really nice flavour to it but it wasnt quite what I was expecting or hoping for. I will definitely try it again, and next time I will wind back on the cream, wind up the worcestshire sauce, wind up the garlic more than I already had, and introduce some rich gravy mix towards the last hour for thickening and flavour more to my hopes. And I will still add the mushrooms and the strips of short cut bacon which added to what I cooked tonight.

Yummy! I love this recipe so much, I doubled sauce ingredients (except for cooking cream) and seasoned with salt and pepper. Very delicious and will definitely make again. Thanks for sharing this awesome recipe Katrina Renwick!

I do not have cooking cream can l just use normal cream and add it near the end

    1. Paulene @ Slow Cooker Central May 28, 2019

If using normal cream I suggest to add 1-2 tsp cornflour to it before adding to reduce risk of splitting then it’s usually ok 🙂

  13. Can you use lactose free cream? What does a it mean by splitting? I use it in all my other cooking

YUM – As suggested I added cornflour with the sauces and cream and cream did not curdle. I was impressed as I cooked it on low for 6 hours (instead of 4). I cooked off the onion and garlic and browned the meat first. I added 2 teaspoons beef stock to sauce mix. Sauce still needed some more cornflour to thicken at the end. So delicious. I’ve had a stove top casserole of beef diane I have used for over 15 years but from now on I will be doing this slow cooker version. Perfect. Served with pasta.

  15. Made this last night, it was awesome, but had quite a bit of sauce leftover. Also had some Bolognese meatballs left. Put them together and yum. Instant Parma Rosa sauce. Thanks for the recipe.

    Easy peasy and so yum!
My steak was so tender – I didn’t believe it could be in just 4 hours!
Served over a bed of smashed potato to soak up that gorgeous gravy – so good!

Absolutely fabulous and easy recipe which I’ve made a few times now. Today I didn’t have any cream so subbed with sour cream and thickened it with a cornflour slurry. Absolutely delicious ?

Yum, such a delicious sauce and lots of it.
Even considering meat quantity was increased to 1.5kg.
My long life cream was 20 ml less to recipe but I like bit of bite to Diane so I added 2 tbspn more of Worcestershire .
Thickened at end with cornflour, very easy staple ingredients.

OMG everytime I try a new recipe I haven’t made before., I get a new favourite. My family always complains I never cook steak “right” !! Not one complaint tonight and plates licked clean. I made a slurry and added at the end and served on rice and absolutely delicious

Easy recipe that yielded a delicious, tasty outcome. I added 375g punnet of sliced mushrooms (the recipe did say use as many as you like!). I used my 3.5l slow cooker and probably should have used my 5.5l! Still worked well, just cooked it for 5 hours on low.
