Rich Tomato Gravy Drumsticks
Delicious drumsticks in a rich tomato gravy that the whole family will love!
Budget friendly too and leftovers freeze well 🙂
Serving: 4
Ingredients
- 1kg chicken drumsticks
- A small tin tomato paste (140g)
- A generous shake of Moroccan seasoning
- 2Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1Tbsp gravy powder
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- A good grind of cracked pepper
- 2Tbsp BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Add chicken drumsticks to slow cooker
- Combine all other ingredients and pour over chicken
- Cook on low for 6hrs
Notes
- As chicken releases it's liquids it will combine with the other ingredients to make a lovely rich sauce over the chicken.
- This sauce can be further thickened just prior to serving if needed, however ours didn't require this
- Lovely served over creamy mashed potato

Delish! I doubled the sauce and added onion. Chicken just fell off the bone.
I cannot even explain how delicious and easy this recipe is. Perfect with mash.
I wasn’t able to find a small tin of tomato paste so ended up using 1/4 can of tomato puree and it worked well. If I’d used less then it may have been a thicker gravy but it worked just fine.
I doubled the sauce and i used ground pepper and it was very delish and the chicken was nice and tender and the smell was incredible
Yummy! Will make again. Next time I’ll double the sauce- my 1 year old kept licking his plate clean and asking for more!
Tasted amazing
Wouldn’t change a thing
Do you need to remove the chicken skin from drumsticks before cooking?
No you don’t Linda
A delicious and quick meal to prep. Will definitely make again.
Was delicious and I doubled the sauce
We loved the sauce so much I used just the sauce in other recipes like lamb shanks?
I really liked this, I made my own morrocan seasoning and probably could have been a bit more heavy handed with it. I am definitely making this again. I served it with mash and broccoli.
Tried this with chicken thighs. Omg myself and the kids love it. My husband said it is rich but enjoyed it.
Quite a nice flavoured recipe. Next time I might use a little less tomato paste as the final result was a little too concentrated for my taste.
Otherwise a very nice recipe that I will make again.
What an awesome recipe. So quick and easy to put together and absolutely delicious. I used thick sausages because I didn’t have chicken. I also substituted tomato paste for tomato soup (about 1/2 can) because I didn’t have tomato paste. I also added 1 fresh tomato.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it and my husband said that it’s a ‘make again’ which is his tick ✅ of approval. Thank you Simon for such a great recipe.
This was so quick and easy to put together, and it tasted so, so good. I didn’t have Moroccan seasoning so put in some Cajun seasoning. We both loved it. The only thing I would do differently is to double the sauce. My husband loves his sauces.
I had 2kg of chicken drumsticks that were frozen, so I doubled the sauce mixture. I couldn’t but the Moroccan seasoning, so put in Mediterranean seasoning. oh my goodness this was absolutely delicious on a bed of mash potatoes.
definitely recommend this receipe
I’m happy you loved the recipe 🙂

Yummy!
As drumsticks are not a preferred cut here, I used chicken thighs. Doubled recipe. Only had 140g of tomato paste. I had a third or so of a large tin of diced tomatoes in the fridge, so threw that in to use it up. Served with mash and broccoli.
Will mix leftovers with pasta and peas for another dinner.
Fabulous to read your feedback! Thanks so much Amanda 🙂
