A slow cooked meat sauce to serve in a delicious cheesy pasta bake!

Equipment

  • 3.5L slow cooker
  • Large oven proof dish
  • Spray Oil

Ingredients
 

Meat Sauce for slow cooking

  • 500 gram beef mince
  • 100 grams sundried tomato strips, chopped
  • 1 small onion, fine diced
  • 2 large flat mushrooms, fine diced
  • 4 cloves Crushed garlic
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 50 grams concentrated tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 2 tsp beef stock powder - I use Massel brand
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar
  • 500 grams pasta bake sauce - creamier than regular pasta/spaghetti sauce (I use Leggos brand)

Other Needs

  • 500 grams (dry weight) penne pasta, cooked
  • 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 75 grams extra sharp grated parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

  • Add all the meat sauce ingredients to slow cooker
  • Cook on low for 5hrs
  • Spray your large oven dish with non-stick oil spray.
  • Combine cooked pasta with the meat sauce and gently pour into your oven dish
  • Top with both cheeses and place under hot grill in the oven until cheese melts and begins to brown (approx 10mins)
  • Lovely served with a crisp side salad and garlic bread
