Set slow cooker to sear (if your slow cooker doesn't have this function, use a fry pan)
Add a little olive oil, and fry off leek
Change setting to LOW
Add in garlic, potatoes, bones and hock
Pour stock over, and cook for around 4 hours on low
Remove smoked hock and pork/bacon bones, set aside to cool enough for ease of handling
At this point, I blitz the potato mixture.
Add meat (removed from bones) back into slow cooker, with a slug of cream (optional), and a good handful of tasty cheese (optional), salt and pepper - heat through, and serve with crusty bread
