Chinese braised beef

A lovely delicate Chinese flavoured dish that will have your friend or family licking their plates clean !

Ingredients
 

  • 1kg diced beef
  • 1 cup sliced spring onions
  • 150ml sweet soy sauce
  • 1tbs honey
  • 1tbs sugar (I used coconut sugar)
  • 3tsp minced garlic
  • 3tsp minced ginger
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 cup water
  • 1tsp sambal olek chilli paste
  • 1tsp nutmeg
  • 1tsp Chinese five spice
  • 2tbs vinegar
  • —Cornflour Slurry
  • 2tbs cornflour in 6tbs water,
  • 1tsp sambal olek,
  • 1tbs sweet soy

Instructions
 

  • Coat beef in cornflour then slightly brown in a fry pan.
  • Add all ingredients into your slow cooker (apart from the cornflour slurry mixture) and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • About 30 mins from serving add the cornflour slurry mixture to thicken the sauce.
  • Serve with rice and steamed greens
