Ingredients

1 roast pork piece 1.5-2kg

2 onions, sliced

1 bottle of smoky bbq marinade

1 x 30g sachet of taco seasoning

Directions

1Add sliced onion to base of slow cooker

2Remove any string from roast pork and place pork fat side down, on top of onion

3Combine marinade and taco mix and pour over pork

4Cook on high for 7hrs or low for 10hrs

5BEFORE shredding pork remove and discard fat and rind layer

6Serve pulled pork on soft white bread rolls with salad leaves

7Note:

8Don't be concerned if you see lots of liquid build up during cooking. Pork absorbs this when shredded into it

9You can substitute the marinade for your favourite smoky bbq sauce bottle if you prefer

10Great dish to self serve at your next party

I have made this before and had with slaw and rolls and it is absolutely delicious. This time I added corn, white beans and spinach and served with rice. Just as yummy.
Thank you. 👍😊😍

Made this recently and it was easy, delicious and versatile (we got 2 dinners out of it). Used exactly the same ingredients as in the picture – next time I might try 2 sachets of taco mix as I felt the taco flavour got a little lost in the smoky bbq.

Would this work just as well with a Beef roast?

So easy and the family love it. Even better day after as well.

Such a versatile recipe and easy too. We use it for nachos, burgers, over baked potatoes. Kids even like it with just salad. We like things a little spicier in our house, so we add a little cayenne pepper to ours.

Yes you can if you prefer
I leave it on myself to cook then it slides off easy before shredding at the end 🙂

Hi .

Could you remove the rind layer before putting in the show cooker?

Thanks

Hi Matt

You can remove it THIS way 🙂

I like to shred the meat on a cutting board easily then return it to the pot where it will soak up the liquids/sauces in the slow cooker.
If the end is too saucy just serve with a slotted spoon to minimise sauce content 🙂

Cooking this today. I presume a lot of fat will end up in the liquid…. do you remove this before shredding?
Is it best to return to the slow cooker to shred or do in a bowl and add the liquid? Thanks

Made this with the biggest pork roast that would fit into my slow cooker, buns, coleslaw and fresh steamed corn on the cob for a family get together and everybody raved about it for weeks. Put it on high first thing in the morning and it was ready for a late lunch/early dinner get together A+++

Lovely flavour. Made it with 1kg pork roast. Lots of flavour and sauce. Will make this again for sure.

Yes any pork will work great 🙂

Would a roasting pork shoulder be OK?

Definitely one of THE BEST pulled pork recipes I’ve tried, is always a hit with my family.

Brilliant recipe! So easy, delicious & versatile….our first batch lasted 3 days between the two of us haha! I’ve made it two more times and will make many times again. Add chilli powder if you want more spice

The family loved this. Could probably do with two packets of the taco seasoning as in the end it was just a sweet bbq flavour. Very easy to do with left overs
