Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 8 hours
Total Time 8 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 Piece of Silverside/Corned Beef (and any size you wish)
  • 3 cans of 375ml Coca-Cola

Instructions

  • Rinse Silverside/Corned Beef
  • Place Silverside/Corned Beef in slow cooker
  • Pour over the 3 cans of Coca-Cola (doesn't matter if it doesn't fully cover the Silverside)
  • Cook on low for approximately 8hrs
  • I've seen the Gingerbeer and Lemonade varieties of Silverside recipes and thought I'd give this ago. And plus all I had in the house was coke. This version is super tender and the kids loved it and wanted more.
  • Served with Mashed Potatoes and a lovely white sauce.

just noticed that it says in the cook time its 4 hrs 50 minutes – yet in the body of writing for the method it says 8 hours.

I have also added 2 cloves of garlic and a few bay leaves – delicious

  2. This was a hit in this household!!! I added cloves of garlic, bay leaves and a whole peeled red onion…,yummm so moist, tender and tasty

  3. So today I thought that I would make silverside as I haven’t made it for a while.

I cooked the silverside as per directions (see below link) with coke (I used coke no sugar)

And I followed the cheese mustard sauce directions as below.

OMG I don’t think I will ever go back to the way I use to make it. Thank you very much the the people that provided these recipes.

  4. At what time during the 8 hours would you add the carrots, potatoes, onions and cabbage if you’re making this for St, Patty’s Day? The same time as you would without the coke? Thanks!

  5. I had slow cooked my corned beef with the 3 cans of Coke.
I know,..a lot of info..lol. but for anyone interested,,,
For the vegetables in this recipe and whenever I cook vegetables I always use.
“BETTER THAN BOUILLON” brand stock base.
For this recipe I used the “Roasted Chicken” as I like the flavor that it adds to Veggies. It’s made with seasoned roasted chicken. The same with the beef. It has roast beef in it.
I cooked my veggies in a pot with about 12 cups of water with 8 tsps of “Better Than Bouillon” stock base. I was only cooking for 2 so I did not make a lot of veggies this time with my corned beef.
Water/ Bouillon amounts don’t always have to match. Using to taste is best.
It comes in a 16 oz. jar ( 1 lb.) which you keep in your fridge and a little goes a long way,
1 tps. of BTB is the equivalent to 1 bouillon cube or 1-8 oz. can of broth which I really like as it’s low in Sodium and Organic and not pricey.( I forgot the price or I’d tell ya.)
I buy at local grocery store and it can also be bought ( but they are often out of stock, at Costco.)
It comes in Chicken, Beef and Vegetable flavor. I try to keep all 3 in stock here in my fridge.
I add these to almost everything that I cook. To anything that I cook with water, ( of course not desserts), ?
