Slow Cooked Duck and Vege
Looking for a new way to cook duck and came across a recipe I adapted to suit my family.
Serving: 6
Ingredients
- 2 ducks
- 1 pkt. Onion Soup Mix
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and chopped into chunks
- 2 large carrots, peeled and chopped into chunks
- 1 medium Onion, coarsely chopped
- 2 Tbsp. Butter
- Salt and Pepper
- 2tsp chicken stock powder
- 1 cup Water
- 1 Tbsp Cornflour (if required)
Instructions
- Place all ingredients except duck in the bottom of slow cooker and stir.
- Place ducks on top.
- Cook on high for 5 hours.
- At the end of cooking time, take duck out and slice.
Notes
- The cooking liquid can be thickened at this time using a little cornflour mixed with cold water.
- Could use other vege eg pumpkin, kumara.
- I added ready cooked peas and corn for serving but they could be added in during cooking time.
- I used a 5 litre slow cooker for this.

Can I use sweet potatoes with this recipe.
I don’t see why not Jason – they’d just be a little less firm of course then regular potato 🙂
