  1. For such a simple way of doing this silverside – The flavour was magnificent.
I had read on the facebook page slow cooker recipes for the family (SCC)about this way and decided to try it, so glad I did, the flavour just explodes and the meat is so tender..
Recommend this way for sure a rare mark from me of 10/10.

  2. Terrible. Dry, dry, dry!
Was hesitant to try this recipe but did so upon the previous reviews.
Not happy at all. About to order pizza!

Have done this a few times now. Delicious. So soft and tender and juicy. Flavour just explodes.

  4. I’ve just put my corned silverside in the slow cooker. It took me 5 minutes to rinse it and wrap it in foil. I know that it’ll be perfect in 7 hours time – it always is Thanks so much for sharing this recipe.

  5. Never been able to do a melt in the mouth beef joint .. until I tried this 10/10 every time , 2 off my favourite things combined beef and slow cooker ! Iv used other cuts of beef joints works well with them all !! Thankyou

What a fabulous way to cook silverside! I am a convert!
Extremely juicy, no mess, so tender.
Give this a try, you won’t be disappointed.

My husband opinion is that this is the best silverside that he has ever tasted, so soft, beautiful and tender, easy to carve, this will be the way I will be cooking my silverside in the future

  8. Can you please tell me if you placed ‘the parcel’ on the bottom of the slow cooker, or did you raise it a little ie: balls of foil, egg rings, etc? Many thanks.

Tried this for the first time, and will not cook Silverside any other way from now on. I did cook for 7 hrs as my piece of meat was 2.2kgs. Thank you so much for this recipe.

first time trying in foil and I was sceptical.
was very yummy though and a fussy 2 year old ate it, as did my partner who “hates” silverside. was a win and something I’ll make again. very easy, minimal mess.

I had it last night for dinner and next time I will cook it for 7hrs instead of 6 my son liked it the way it came out but I prefer it to be more tender than it was . Will definately do it again

Highly recommended, this method is so deliciously moist and the flavor next level. Definitely will be cooking again ?

Cooked this for the first time and it was absolutely delicious! I’m not the most confident cook but this was easy and hubby loved it too ! It will now be the only way I make silverside.. yummo! Thank you Pauline for all of your amazing recipes ???

Sorry but this one wasn’t a winner for us. 🙁
The meat was tough and chewy.
I do wonder about the meat quality though and think that may not have helped.
Will revert back to my usual way of cooking from now on.

    This was an absolute winner.
I cooked this last night ( Sunday dinner), for my dad who has recently moved in with us after my mum passed away in April. It is his all time favourite.
I have never ever made this before, as it always seemed a bit complicated.
However after reading all the reviews over the last few weeks, for the recipe that just requires wrapping in paper and then foil, I thought even I can do that.
And I bloody well did! And it was superb – maybe even as good as mums.
Thank you so very much for this recipe, you have made both my dad and I, very happy.

I wouldn’t cook silverside any other way now!!!
I was sceptical about using this method but it was tender, moist and very flavoursome ….
Resist the temptation to add anything, you won’t be disappointed!

So jumped on the wagon and did this tonight, so impressed with the flavour will definitely cook this way again. I did add a splash of water into the bottom of slow cooker, just to be sure of no cracking.

WOW I’ll never cook corned silverside any other way after using this method. The meat was juicy, moist, tender and full of flavour. not salty at all. I shared the slowcooker with foil wrapped jacket potatoes cooked at the same time (removing the meat after 5.5 hours and left the spuds for a further 1.5 hours). I made mustard sauce in my 1.5 litre slowcooker. Served with broccoli and carrots. So easy and time efficient.

I’ve been trying to perfect the silverside for a while now. The traditional way just wasn’t working for me so thought I would try this out.

Oh my, it was delicious, so tender an flavoursome.

I purchased a 1.4 kg corned silverside from Aldi. Rinsed as per the direction. My piece didn’t have a lot of fat. I’d read a comment that someone’s tasted fatty. I was tempted to cut off the little fat it had but ended up leaving it on. Wrapped in baking paper and doubled wrapped in foil (different directions). Put in my Breville Searing slow cooker (which seems to be on the cooler side) on low and cooked for 9.5 hours.
    It turned out perfect.

Highly recommended giving this a go.

Cooked my silverside this way for the first time today & was so impressed. I was sceptical cause I’ve always cooked in water or liquid but I’m converted. The best I’ve ever cooked, will be using this method from here on in. Thank you for the recipe ?

  22. I cooked a 1kg piece of silverside using this method. I cooked on low for 4hours. The meat was lovely but my 1kg became 500gm after cooking. It shrank so much. Don’t know if I did something wrong or if it was just the meat I had bought. It tasted fine and was cooked beautifully. Any ideas?

The silverside was the best I have had and even my husband said the same. So easy to prepare and cook and I will definitely be cooking it this way again too. 100% recommend trying this method.

Have since cooked a Lamb and Goat Roast this way, and both turned out great. Hubby loved the Lamb cooked this way, and the Goat turned out lovely too. Will definitely cook this way from now on. Thanks again for sharing.

I have now made this in my 1.5L slow cooker 3 times and it is amazing! Such an easy way to cook corned silverside. Thank you Paulene and Co.

Normally do the honey mustard from scratch, which is also yummy. This is great, have done twice and both times, tender and tasty.

Tried the baking paper and foil method for my silverside! 7hrs low…. I have never had a silverside turn out so tender and moist…. Full of flavour…. Fight the urge to want to add liquid etc…. It cooks in it’s own juices… 10/10

I was eager to try this after seeing it in the FB group. My husband usually cooks this dish and I think he was skeptical when I told him I was cooking it in foil and nothing else, but we were both blown away. We will only be cooking it this way from now on.

First time trying this method and I’m really impressed! Having with mustard cheese sauce which I make all the time. It’s going to be a fabulous dinner. Thank you

Simple and easy with fantastic results. This is the only way I will ever do this again and definitely be a regular on the list. Was so moist and flavourful.

If you like chewing on leather, this will be perfect.
Personally, I do not. The chewiest piece of silverside I’ve ever eaten and the only chewy piece I have ever tried out of a slow cooker. Taste was still great but unfortunately 99% of it was just inedible due to the texture. Even the kids who adore silverside and would eat anything wouldn’t have more than a few bites!

  33. Have cooked Pickled Pork this way now, and it turned out great, so moist and tender. Beef is next. Again thanks for sharing!

  34. Cooked this for first time – overcooked but great taste! Only one problem – as I lifted foil wrapped package onto board all liquid inside come out – very hot and burnt skin – will be careful next time.

I was a bit nervous cooking the silverside this way as I honestly thought that it would be very salty and dry. Well, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t! Such a simple and easy way to cook it and it was soooo tender and delicious. I highly recommend cooking a piece of silverside this way and would definitely do it again and again ?.

I was very sceptical about this way of cooking Silverside BUT it was absolutely delicious. It’s the only way I will cook this in future. There were clean plates all round and enough for tonights dinner too – so we could enjoy it again. I paired it with mashed potato and sweet potato, broccoli, beans and a mustard white sauce OMG!!!

I have made this several times now and it is always absolutely tender and delicious. Even my 93 year old Dad cooks his silverside this way. If you haven’t tried it, give it a go.

BOOM! This silverside is “The Bomb”.
    Yet again, this recipe delivers.
Hubby made ours this weekend, nailed it!
    Juicy, Tender, Easy to Slice.
    Yum.
